INDO-SWISS TRAINING CENTRE (A brand name in skill development since 1963)

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF ISTC Indo-Swiss Training Centre (ISTC) was established in the year 1963 in c o l l a b o ra t i o n w i t h t h e S w i s s Foundation for Technical Assistance, Switzerland. ISTC was formally th inaugurated on 18 December 1963 by the first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru. It is being run under the aegis of Council of Scientific and Industrial R e s e a r c h, C e n t r a l S c i e n t i f i c Instruments Organization (CSIR-CSIO). ABOUT CSIR-CSIO CSIR-CSIO is a multi-disciplinary organization having well equipped laboratories manned by Scientists and technical support staff with infrastructural facilities in the areas of Agrionics; Medical Instrumentation; Optical Instrumentation; Analytical Instrumentation; Advanced Materials based Transducers; HRD; Seismic etc.

NEED FOR ESTABLISHMENT OF ISTC Post independence, industrial growth took place at high pace and at that time most of the machinery was imported. To operate and maintain that machinery there was a lack of skilled manpower. To cater to this need, ISTC was established. ISTC pioneered a unique style of skill based training programme to impart state-of-art technical education to infuse professional endowment with technical competence and leadership qualities in the trainees. TRAINING OBJECTIVES The basic objective of ISTC is to produce young technical personnel with solid practical background in the area of Design, Manufacturing, Instrumentation, Mechatronics and Industrial Automation. Other key objectives are: To impart quality education and build precision skills To infuse thorough knowledge by imparting industry oriented practical training and making the trainees professionally competent To inculcate the sense of discipline and responsibility coupled with logical thinking, so that they become an asset for their employers To instill self confidence in the trainees to make them successful in all walks of life including entrepreneurship To emphasize on all round development of trainees by ensuring their participation in projects, technical events, cultural activities, group discussions, sports events, NCC camps, NSS and Blood Donation activities

EVOLUTION OF ISTC The evolution of ISTC since 1963 is presented below. ISTC COURSES 2017 ONWARDS Present course structure along with the total intake and year wise break up is shown below.

COURSE FEATURES Today, ISTC is a Training Centre of repute in the field of Technical Education and even today after 50 plus years of its inception, the Training Centre has maintained an excellent quality of training. These courses are duly approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. Unique training methodology - Inculcating instinct to Work With Own Hands, imbibing Right Work Habits & building Precision and Quality as a natural instinct 20% Theory and 80% Practical Training Hands-on practical exposure on the State-of-the-Art Equipment/ Machinery Exposure to Live Industrial Projects and Real Life Work Environment Regular Industrial Visits, Guest Lectures from Industrial Experts and Rigorous Job counseling & Placement Overall Development with Emphasis on Punctuality, Cleanliness, Discipline, Housekeeping, Obedience, Pride in Labour, Teamwork etc. A Rigid System of Performance Evaluation by Continuous & Close Monitoring of Trainees at every step

Mechatronics & Industrial Automation ISTC has state-of-art laboratories with the latest trainer kits, operated and maintained by experienced faculty. Modern Analog & Digital Electronics facility, Latest equipments such as Industrial Automation Trainer, PLC & DCS Training set ups, Transducers & Actuators Trainers, AC-DC Drives, Process Control Trainer, Embedded System Trainers, Pneumatic and Hydraulic Trainers, Integrated Robotic Systems, PCB Prototyping System, Electro- Mechanical Design & Simulation Facilities, Electronics and Instrumentation Design & Simulation Facility, SMD Inspection, Assembly & Reworking, a variety of Electrical Lab Trainers have been set up in the modernized labs.

Mechanical Engineering ISTC workshop has a wide range of machinery & equipments. ISTC Workshop has been equipped with modern machinery like Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM), CNC Machining & Turning Centres, Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), EDM & Wire Cut EDM, Rapid Prototyping Systems, Injection Moulding, Latest CAD/ CAM Facility, Jig Boring and Grinding, Advanced Metrology Equipments etc. in addition to conventional machines.

OTHER FACILITIES The campus also has other facilities up its sleeves such as conference room, auditorium, library, hostels and cafeteria. Conference Room, Auditorium & Library A well designed and maintained conference room & auditorium is used for holding interactive sessions, group discussions, lectures and events like mentoring, counseling, cultural events, ISTC day celebrations etc. Tucked away in a corner of the building is a well-lit, bright library that provides Anytime, Anywhere Access to information and knowledge; offers books, periodicals and a quiet place to work in. There has always been a very high demand of ISTC pass-outs in the industry. Ex ISTCians are holding key positions in reputed organizations not only in India but abroad as well. ISTC students play crucial role in all areas of the Industry, ranging from Research & Development, Designing, Production, Maintenance, Quality Check, and Automation & Process Control to Technical Sales & Support i.e. from scrap to finished product. MAJOR RECRUITERS The Indian Industry has been impressed with the performance of the ISTC trainees. They are capable of performing multifarious functions of the industry and for that reason they are in great demand and get recruited through campus placement.

ISTC CONTRIBUTION TOWARDS SOCIETY Many of the ISTCians are successful entrepreneurs having setup around 450 units all over India with a turnover ranging from Rs 10 Cr to 600 Cr, thus contributing around Rs 12000 Cr per annum to the National GDP, apart from providing impetus to the growth of manufacturing industry in the country. ISTC CONTRIBUTION TOWARDS INDUSTRIAL GROWTH ISTC is associated directly or indirectly with industries by solving their industrial problems like: By designing the components By developing components/assemblies By giving consultancy to improve product, processes etc. By providing skilled manpower By imparting & upgrading the skills of their employees By developing high precision tooling for R&D Institutions/ Industries

REMARKABLE ACHIEVEMENTS Participation in various competitions ISTC students actively take part in various technical and innovative competitions. Given ahead are few glimpses of their remarkable performance: INDO-SWISS TRAINING CENTRE st ISTC Two teams jointly won 1 prize in the NASA Rover Challenge ASIA CUP 2017 (First Time in India) with the competition title Jesco Von Puttkamer India Cup 2017 on 13th October 2017 organized at Amity University, Noida sponsored by M/s Tec Mantra Labs - Global (India) ISTC students recently won prizes in following competitions in 2017: Mitsubishi Electric Cup, Pune; PEC, Chandigarh; Chandigarh University, Mohali; IIT, New Delhi and MM University, Ambala
