IP Business Reports B E TA l a u n c h
Our vision PatSnap IP Reports have been developed with the aim of becoming the smartest and best IP intelligence reports on the market. They are IP-centric business intelligence reports. The report enables users to understand the R&D and IP strategic direction of a company. It also allows users to answer mission-critical business questions for future analysis. Some of the key business questions that IP reports can answer are: How does a company's stock price correlate with its patent filing strategy? What compensation package does a key Apple inventor receive, compared to their industry counterparts? What are a company s potential new product lines, based on the analysis of the patent filings and the company s press releases? What are my competitors patents? How much do their patents overlap with mine?

IP Strategic Map The IP Strategy Report pulls together hundreds of thousands of data calculations in order to calculate and compare the innovativeness of a particular company and their R&D strategy. There are 8 dimensions to this map, each dimension compares this company s activity compared to the industry average, and can also be compared to any competitor. For instance, Fuji s growth is higher than the industry average, as is their specialisation in a certain field. However their patents are less influential as indicated by the Technology Impact Index (TII); they focus more on industry than scientific content; they transfer technologies from concept into production less than average; patents focus on singular not multitechnology; their filings are predominantly domestic and few are filed on the global market; and Fuji are less likely to cooperate with other companies.
IP Strategic Map This map compares companies in terms of how much industry-focused (downstream) or science-based (upstream) activity they have, along with their technology specialisation. Fuji Each bubble represents a different company, and he size of the bubble is reflective of the amount of patents that company has.
IP Strategic Map This map represents whether a company is more open to joint R&D ventures with other organisations, or if they prefer to maintain autonomous control. It also maps whether a company s research base is localised or international. Fuji Each bubble represents a different company, and he size of the bubble is reflective of the amount of patents that company has.
Claim Analysis Landscape Each bubble represents one patent belonging to Fuji, and this map compares the strength of a patents claims and the patents content similarity. The larger the bubble, the stronger the claims. The strength of a patent is calculated using information such as the number of independent claims, dependant claims and citations received. Fuji
Co-Inventorship This shows the relationships between inventors and how many patents they have jointly collaborated on. When you mouse over a section of the chart, the map will change to show inventors that have patents together.
Special Patents Patents that are worthy of extra notice from a company s portfolio are pulled out of the system. What makes a patent special could be the number of citations it has, the amount of family members, the number of years pendency, the amount of claims, etc. In this instance, the top 10 patents with the highest number of citations are listed, and are hyperlinked back into PatSnap to allow for closer scrutiny.
