Drafting Technician II Position Announcement Skagit PUD is seeking a Drafting Technician II. Position will perform drafting tasks and limited engineering design to assist the District in preparing construction plans and documenting piping systems. This position reports directly to the Assistant Engineering Manager. The Drafting Technician II will: Work in cooperation with Engineering staff to draft initial and final waterline construction plans, and to prepare maps and drawings, site plans, topographic maps, GIS exhibits and right-of-way maps. Utilize District drawing standards and apply standardized drawing techniques to perform basic quantity and geometry calculations. Preparation of plan and profile drawings for waterline designs, and preparation of design drawings for waterline appurtenances such as pump stations or PRV s. Research documentation as required for the engineering staff and maintain filing system of engineering documents, including backing up and archiving. Draft and update system record maps, including master system records, valve location records, flushing record maps, and master pipe size maps. Prepare bid and construction sets as needed for District projects. Other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED is required, and college-level work in Auto- CAD, Engineering, surveying or a related field is preferred, but not required. At least four (4) years of practical experience performing utility infrastructure drafting duties using AutoCAD-based software is preferred. High degree of proficiency using AutoCAD drafting software and peripheral computer equipment. Basic knowledge of engineering design principles and construction methods. Experience in MS Office applications. Ability to exercise sound judgment in choosing scales, sheet size, views, sections and arrangement of views to provide clarity and proper emphasis in planning and executing drawings. Demonstrated knowledge of high school mathematics including trigonometry as applied to the computation of angles, areas, distances and traverses. Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing. The ability to self-start and to set achievable independent goals, in addition to the ability to multi-task effectively.
