Duplicate your original portrait layer 2. Rename the Original Copy Layer Blur 3. Control-Click the Blur layer and Convert to a Smart Object 4. Go To Menu Bar> Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur 5. Slide to or type 8.5 for Radius, Hit OK 6. Go To Blend Modes in the Layer Panel 7. Choose Overlay for Blend Mode (choose and view other blend modes) NOTE: If the Blur Layer is more or less blurry than you desire, go to the Blur layer, double-click the Gaussian Blur fx and edit the Radius.
