Dear Rising Fourth Graders, June 1, 2018 We hope you will plan to go to the public library often this summer to select books that interest you and give you information about historical events and people who influenced our country s development. United States history and geography are important areas of study in fourth grade and you might particularly enjoy reading books from those two areas. The following book list is intended to guide you in appropriate readings for your reading level. Remember that the reading level represents a wide range so some books may be easier to read and others more difficult. Before you take a book home from the library, open to the center of the book and read-aloud one page to make certain you find reading the words fairly easy. If you miss more than two words, unless they are proper nouns, select a book that is easier to read. You must read at least five (5) books. One of these books must include the following book. You can expect that the first week of school we will be doing activities that relate to this interesting novel. Judy Blume Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing After you have finished reading a book, write the title and author on the record sheet at the end of the reading list. On the first day of school in September bring in your reading list which must be signed by you and your parents. We look forward to teaching you next year and hope you have a wonderful summer. Sincerely, Your 4 th Grade Teachers
