An inquiry into the natural world and its laws; the interaction between the natural world (physical and biological) and human societies; how humans use their understanding of scientific principles; the impact of scientific and technological advances on society and on the An inquiry into the interconnectedness of human-made systems and communities; the structure and function of organizations; societal decision-making; economic activities and their impact on humankind and the An inquiry into rights and responsibilities in the struggle to share finite resources with other people and with other living things; communities and the relationships within and between them; access to equal opportunities; peace and conflict resolution. Central idea As we grow older our possibilities and responsibilities change. Forms of transportation which are available to us depend on where and when we live. Signs and Symbols help us communicate and understand. Understanding natural laws helps us solve problems using simple machines. Social groups are made of individuals who share identities and purposes and belong to a larger community. Needs of living things are met by its Lines of inquiry Different stages of life How we change Our Privileges and Responsibilities Types of Transportation How transportation has changed over time Transportation in other places Where we encounter signs and symbols What signs and symbols can tell us Common signs and symbols We can create our own signs and symbols. What simple machines are Natural laws (Force &Gravity) How simple machines apply natural laws How simple machines make our lives easier Groups I belong to (connection) Skills and behaviours needed to function in a group (reflection, connection) Roles people take in groups shape the function of the group (connection, perspective) Types of habitats. Central idea We use our senses to explore, experience, interpret and to communicate with the world around us. People have always played games and sports for fun, learning, and competition. Creativity sparks the expression of self Learning about the properties of our planet and its atmosphere helps us to understand our world. People develop systems of trade for goods and services The world is made up of a variety of biomes each with unique animals, plants and climate. Lines of inquiry How our senses work and how we use these senses. How we use our senses to collect information about the world around us. What we need our senses for How do people adapt to the loss of a sense Creative expression through poetry Reasons for creativity Impacts of creativity on people and society Using Earth's resources responsibly How weather and natural disasters can affect our lives Our planet and its characteristics How we measure the value of goods and services How trade and transaction connect us Major biomes of earth.
