Mount The Installation Brackets Bracket Requirements Bracket type Brackets required For Headrail Width up to 30" 30 1 /8" to 60" 60 1 /8" to 90" 90 1 /8" to 120" Installation Bracket 2 3 4 5 Optional Extension Bracket 2 3 4 5 Optional Spacer Block 1-3 per bracket Optional Hold-Down Bracket 2 Bracket Placement Bracket placement is the same for inside and outside mounts. Measure 2" in from where the ends of the headrail will be located and mark the bracket locations on the mounting surface. 2" Space Evenly Space Evenly 2" Space additional brackets evenly between the end brackets. Adjust the bracket placement to gain clearance to avoid obstructions such as window cranks or handles. Inside Mount Applications Bracket Installation Center each bracket over the previously made mark on the mounting surface. Attach using one screw. Use a level to check that the brackets are level and aligned. 2" Minimum Depth: 3 /4" Fully Recessed Depth (from the front of the sill to the back of mounting bracket): 3 5 /8" 6

Outside Mount Applications Bracket Installation Center the shading over the window and mark the ends of the headrail on the mounting surface. Measure 2" in from the marks on the wall and mark the bracket locations. Center each bracket over the marks on the mounting surface. Check that each bracket is level and the tops are aligned. Attach using one screw. Spacer Blocks (Optional) Caution: A spacer block will need to be used when mounting above any trim. Use a maximum of three spacer blocks per bracket. 5 / 8 " Minimum Each spacer block projects the installation bracket 1 /2" away from the mounting surface. Mount with solid sides facing mounting surface. Mounting screws should be long enough for a secure installation. Screws must be 1 /2" longer for each spacer block used (not included). Spacer Blocks Extension Brackets (Optional) Extension brackets project the installation bracket up to 3" from the mounting surface. This allows for additional clearance for obstructions such as window cranks or handles. To shorten the extension brackets, use pliers to break along the indentations. Use a level to check that the extension brackets are level and aligned. Attach using two screws. Attach the installation brackets to the underside of the extension brackets using the machine screws and nuts provided. Extension Bracket Note: Attach the installation bracket to the same holes on all extension brackets to ensure that the installation brackets are projected the same distance away from the mounting surface. 7

End Mount Applications End mount the headrail when conventional mounting techniques will not work, for example, in an arched window. End mount application is not available on two-onone headrail shadings. Mount the extension brackets on a surface at least 1 1 /2" wide, as shown. Attach the installation brackets to the extension brackets using the machine screws and nuts provided. Extension Bracket Nut Note: Attach the installation bracket to the same holes on all extension brackets to ensure that the installation brackets are projected the same distance away from the mounting surface. Installation Bracket 1 1 /2" Minimum Install The Shading Unwind the cord from around the shading assembly. Position the shading so the front (fabric-covered headrail) faces toward you. Leave the protective cover on the headrail until after the shading is installed, to keep the headrail fabric clean. Slip the headrail into the installation brackets so the front of the bracket slides under the front groove on the top of the headrail. Gently roll the back of the headrail up and push back to snap into place. Once you are sure the shading is installed correctly, remove the protective cover from the headrail. Mounting Bracket Front 8 Secure The Cord Tensioner It is imperative that the cord tensioner be properly secured to the wall or window frame to reduce children s access to the cord loop. Young children can strangle in cord loops. They can also wrap cords around their necks and strangle. Furthermore, the shading will not operate properly unless the cord tensioner is secured. A cord tensioner installation kit has been included with your shading. Follow the instructions in the kit to correctly secure the cord tensioner. IMPORTANT: See the Child Safety Warning on page 13.

Install The Hold-Down Brackets (Optional) Hold-down brackets may be used with outside-mount shadings only. Hold-down brackets are not available with two-on-one headrail shadings. With the shading fully lowered, insert the pin on the hold down bracket into the hole on the bottom rail end cap. Mark the mounting hole locations on the mounting surface. Center the hold-down brackets over the mounting hole locations and check their alignment. Attach using two screws. NOTE: Disconnect the bottom rail from the hold-down brackets to raise the shading. Note: Hold-down brackets and pre-drilled endcaps will be provided only when pre-ordered. Lower the shading approximately 1". Remove The Shading While holding the front of the headrail for support, use a standard flatblade screwdriver and insert it between the bottom of the bracket and the back of the headrail, as shown. Twist the screwdriver to release the back edge of the headrail. After releasing the back edge, pull the shading forward and down to release it from the bracket. If the bracket is stiff, the headrail may be difficult to remove. Gently push up on the back rail while twisting the screwdriver. Caution: Use care while handling the fabric-covered headrail during this procedure. 9

Operating The Shading Operation Pull down on the rear cord of the cord loop to lower the shading. With the shading fully lowered, continue to pull the rear cord to open the vanes. Pull down on the front cord of the cord loop to close the vanes and raise the shading. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 HunterDouglas HunterDouglas HunterDouglas HunterDouglas HunterDouglas HunterDouglas HunterDouglas HunterDouglas Front Side Of Shading 10

Test The Shading Lower the shading, then slowly raise it. Adjust The Shading If the fabric rolls unevenly or rubs against the headrail, check that the headrail is level. Level, if necessary. Adjust The Bottom Rail Weight Note: Adjust the bottom rail weight only if the fabric does not roll up straight into the headrail. To adjust, access the bottom rail weight in the bottom rail from the back of the shading. Insert a flat-blade screwdriver into the slot in the weight lock. Rotate each lock up to release the weight. Slide the weight, in 1" increments, in the direction the fabric is gathering. Test and, if necessary, adjust again. After final adjustments, rotate each lock down toward the outside of the rail to secure the weights. Allow at least 1" of weight to overhang each lock. Weight Lock Lift lock to release the weight. Move weight toward the side where the fabric is gathering. Weight After final adjustments, re-lock the weight. allow at least 1" of weight to overhang the lock. 1" 11

12 Care And Cleaning Pirouette window shadings are made of 100% polyester, which means they are inherently durable and resilient. However, care must be taken to avoid wrinkling the fabric, particularly where the vanes meet the facings. The Fabric-Covered Headrail Lightly dust with a clean, dry cloth, vacuum using low suction, or spot clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Dusting Regular light dusting with a feather duster is all the cleaning that is needed in most circumstances. Vacuuming Use a low suction, hand-held vacuum for more thorough dust removal. Spot-Cleaning Spot clean with a damp cloth using a mixture of water and mild detergent. Injection/Extraction Pirouette window shadings can be professionally cleaned using the injection/ extraction method. Ultrasonic Cleaning Pirouette window shadings can be ultrasonically cleaned by a professional. Specify that a mild detergent solution be used. Never immerse the headrail into the solution. Dry the shading completely in the lowered position. Electrostatic Cleaning Do not use electrostatic cleaning devices such as Swiffer or Pledge Grab-it on any Pirouette window shading. For more comprehensive cleaning instructions, call the Hunter Douglas Customer Information Center toll free at: 1-888-501-8364 A Note About Pirouette Fabric As with all textiles, Pirouette fabric is subject to some variations. Slight wrinkling, puckering, or bowing is inherent to this textile product and should be considered normal, acceptable quality. These characteristics are not usually visible from the front or rear but may be visible from a side angle. Precautions should be taken to reduce exposure to harsh environmental elements, such as salt air. Continuous exposure through open windows and doors will accelerate the fabric deterioration.

Child Safety WARNING For more safety information call 1-888-501-8364 in the U.S. or 1-866-662-0666 in Canada. Young children can STRANGLE in cord loops. They can also wrap cords around their necks and STRANGLE. Always keep cords out of the reach of children. Move cribs, playpens and other furniture away from cords. Children can climb furniture to get to cords. Attach the cord tensioner on the cord loop to the wall or window casement. This can prevent children from pulling cord loops around their necks. Hunter Douglas provides a cord tensioner installation kit, with instructions. for attaching the cord tensioner. For the shading to operate properly, the cord tensioner must be correctly mounted and secured. Only Hunter Douglas supplied cord tensioners and hardware should be used. Replacement parts may be obtained by contacting the Hunter Douglas Customer Information Center at 1-888-501-8364. 13

Troubleshooting Problem The shading is hard to raise or lower or will not raise or lower. The shading raises or lowers unevenly or the bottom rail is uneven when fully raised. The shading will not snap into the installation brackets. The shading does not close completely. The vanes stay popped. The vanes will not open when the shading is first operated. The universal cord tensioner has climbed to the headrail. The universal cord tensioner grabs onto the cord upon operation. Solution Check that there is clearance between the ends of the shading and the window casement on inside mounts. Check that the mounting brackets are level. If hold-down brackets are used, make sure they have been released. Check if the fabric rolls up evenly into the headrail. If not, adjust the bottom rail weight (see page 11). Make sure the fabric is not caught on anything. Check that the window is square by measuring the diagonals. Check that the mounting brackets are level. Adjust the bottom rail weight (see page 11). Check that the installation brackets are aligned and level. Check that the front edge of the mounting bracket is completely inserted into the front groove on the top of the headrail. Using the cord, open and close the shading quickly. Then roll up the shading slowly to unpop the vanes. Open and close the shading quickly to shake the vanes open. If necessary, gently pull down on the bottom rail. Pull down on the spring to relieve tension and pull the universal cord tensioner to the bottom of the cordloop. Properly mount the cord tensioner. See Universal Cord Tensioner Installation Instructions. Check that the universal cord tensioner is mounted properly. Reinstall, if necessary. 14
