ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS FOR SL500A AND SL500AL January 2013 The SL500A is a square upright glass cabinet with a single hinged lockable door. It has five adjustable shelves plus the base. It also has an optional top lighting unit (SL500AL), and an option for wheels. The box contains all the parts necessary for its assembly including tools. ASSEMBLY Assembly of the SL500A and SL500AL is by way of corner posts and screws. There are no brackets. In general, the cabinet is best assembled horizontally. One person can assemble the cabinet, but it can be helpful to have a second person for various tasks. It can be easier to clean the glass before, or even as, the cabinet is assembled. Due to design improvements, the parts diagram supplied by the factory may differ the cabinet you have received. 1. After unpacking the boxes, place the base board on the ground. 2. If you have ordered wheels, screw these into the white plugs in the predrilled holes under the base. In general, two wheels are swivel-style and two are fixed, although sometimes all four wheels may be swivel-style the swivel-style wheels have a wider base than the fixed-style. 3. The four aluminium posts are the four vertical corners of the cabinet. There are slots in both the base and the top board for these posts to slot into. Basically, each glass panel slots into the grey plastic inserts already installed in these posts. It is helpful to note that while most of these grey plastic inserts are open i.e. glass can slot into them, two of them will be closed or flat. These flat inserts are designed to face the side where the door will go i.e. where no glass is required to slot into these inserts. See Photo 1 for picture of flat plastic strip. The door side can be identified where there is a hinge hole on the base. 4. Take one of the aluminium corners and slot it into the appropriate pre-drilled slots in the base (remembering that the flat grey plastic inserts face each other on the door side). See Photo 1. It can be easier to check, at this point, that the shelf supports in the track of the aluminium corner are facing to the top of the cabinet. If they are not, you can either turn the pole around, or loosen the screws in the shelf supports and turn them around manually. Fix the corner post to the base by using one of the supplied screws. Ensure it is screwed as far as it will go, and that the post is seated in its slot fully. Remember to use a washer.

While the cabinet is on its side, and with the open grey plastic strip facing upwards, take one of the glass panels (they are all the same size) and slot it into the plastic strip, ensuring it is in firmly and touches the base. 6. Take another aluminium corner and place it onto the other side of the glass panel just installed, and into the pre-drilled slot in the base board. Screw this corner in firmly also. See Photo 2. Photo 2 Note: this picture is from a different model, but follows the same principle of construction. Glass panel inserted into first post, held in place by second post.

7. Rotate the cabinet 90 degrees and repeat this process for each of the other two sides of the cabinet. See Photos 3 and 4. NOTE: On each side, it is easiest to turn the half-constructed cabinet so that the glass panel you are installing is on its long edge, using gravity to lower it into the aluminium track. 8. When all three glass sides are held in place by all four corner posts, lift the cabinet vertically. Place the top of the cabinet on to the four aluminium corners, securing it with the screws supplied through the holes in the top. Remember to use the washers. Because the door has yet to be hung, it is good practice to leave the top screws a little loose so the top can be lifted in order to fit the door. NOTE: If you ordered the optional top downlight unit, use this instead of the supplied top board (see Photo 7). You will have to unscrew the top cover of the lighting unit to screw down into the aluminium posts. NOTE: If the aluminium corners are not all level at the top, they may not be fully seated into their pre-drilled slots in either the base or the top. Ensure the screws are tightened firmly to seat them correctly. Alternatively, your floor may not be level causing the cabinet to be skewed in one corner, or one of the plastic feet may be unscrewed more than the others. 9. Put the shelves in place, resting them on the adjustable clips. The clips can be adjusted using the supplied screwdriver. 10. If not already installed, screw the door stopper in to the predrilled hole in the top board. 11. Fit the door. The hinges supplied have two screws on one side, and double sided adhesive foam on the other. The screws are designed to face the back of the cabinet once the door is in place, so they must be fitted in pairs to achieve this effect. It is not recommended to have the screws facing outwards where they can be seen. Remove the yellow (or white) waxed paper from the adhesive foam which is already in place on the inside of the hinge. Place the hinge on a corner of the door, and allow the adhesive foam to hold it in place. The door and hinges are designed to have approximately 1mm margin between the edge of the hinge and the edge of the door. See Photo 5. Place one of the supplied pieces of flat metal between the screws on the other side of the hinge and the glass i.e. DO NOT SCREW DIRECTLY ONTO THE GLASS OR YOU RISK BREAKING IT. In no circumstances should the screws make contact with the glass. Tighten the screws in tandem until they hold the hinge in place - the screws should be tightened reasonable firmly.

Photo 5 Screws firmly tightened on to metal plate Approx. 1mm between edge of hinge and edge of glass Double sided foam tape to secure hinge to glass on one side 12. Repeat this process for the other hinge, ensuring the hinges are placed as pairs with the screws facing the same way. 13. Place the door with the hinges attached in the relevant hole in the base, and lift the top until you can put the door into the corresponding hole in the top. You may have to temporarily loosen the top screws in order to be able to do this.

14. Place the lock in the appropriate position on the door, and tighten with the supplied screwdriver. See Photo 6. Photo 6 Photo 7
