Beginning-Intermediate Classes with Brittany on Tuesdays from 3 pm to 5 pm Prerequisites: None A two hour class that will get you knitting in no time! You will learn to cast on, knit stitch, purl stitch, stockinette stitch, garter stitch, and bind off. Materials: US size 8 straight or circular needles and light-colored worsted weight yarn Knitting 102 Part One with Brittany on the first Friday of every month from 3 pm to 5 pm Prerequisites: Must know how to cast on, knit, and purl Brittany s favorite patterns are anything beanie related! In this two hour class, you will learn how to use interchangeable circular needles, join in the round, read a basic pattern, and start your hat! Materials: US 6 & 7 Special Interchangeable Needle Tips with one 16 cord and a stitch marker Knitting 102 Part Two with Brittany on the last Friday of every month from 3 pm to 5 pm Prerequisites: Must know how to cast on, knit, and purl In this two hour class, you will learn double point and/or magic loop, decreasing stitches (K2tog and SSK), and how to finish the rest of your hat pattern from Part One! Materials: US 7 Special Interchangeable Needle Tips with 16 cord, US 7 double point needles or 32 cord Class with Susan on Mondays from10 am to 12 pm Prerequisites: None Materials: Size J Hook and Worsted Weight Yarn If you need help finding your materials, please arrive early to class and one of our associates would be glad to help!
Technique Classes with Laura Cunitz We re excited to offer these innovative project classes by designer and blogger Laura Cunitz of Knitting Nuances. Each class introduces new knitting techniques that you ll want to use again and again. If you don t see a time that works for you, Laura is happy to work with you to find an alternative date. You can see examples of the projects here: https: /blog.knittingnuances.com/classes/ Intro to Showy Decrease A one hour class that demonstrates a new knitting technique that s the basis for many of our classes. The technique turns decreases like k2tog and ssk into decorative elements you can use to add pattern to stockinette, vertical lines to garter, knit faux cables and fabulous hat tops. Materials: Smooth wool blend yarn, either DK or worsted, with corresponding needles. New Technique Class: Edges Love new techniques? In this one hour class you ll learn an upgrade to the long-tail cast on, edges that help prevent rolling and a decorative bind off. Materials: Bring smooth swatching yarn, DK or worsted in a wool blend and corresponding needles. In this two hour class, you ll learn to knit this pure fun pleated scarf. It drapes beautifully and holds its pleats without the folding usually required in knit pleats. Materials: Smooth yarn in a wool or alpaca blend, in Fingering to DK weight (7 tp 5.5 sts per 1 ). Can be knit in solids or stripes. Come in early if you d like help picking out yarn! We d be glad to help. Manchester Scarf In this two hour class, you ll practice new techniques involved in this pretty scarf, such as a new cast on, bind off, decorative non-rolling edge and matching right and left Showy Decreases. This popular pattern has over 12,500 downloads on Ravelry! Materials: Smooth yarn in a wool or alpaca blend, in DK to Worsted weight (5.5 tp 4.5 sts per 1 ). Can be knit in solids or stripes. Dubhlinn Cowl This interesting cowl introduces a new way to knit faux cables. In this two hour class, you ll also learn a new cast on and bind off technique. Materials: We used a gradient yarn in the sample. Freia Ombre sport weight (6 sts per 1 ) on a US 5 Irish Seas Faux Cable Scarf Skill Level: Intermediate to experienced knitters. This beautiful scarf is knit with a variety of Showy Cable patterns, which you ll learn in this two hour class. While each part of the pattern is not difficult to knit, the ability to spot the pattern in your knitting is very helpful. The Manchester Scarf class would be a good intro. Materials: Any smooth wool or alpaca blend yarn in Sport to Aran weight. The store sample is in Blue Sky Alpaca Silk. Sip & Shop: Edges Stop by on the 3rd Wednesday of the month for our late night Sip & Shop event. Every month, we ll have a new edge technique to show you. This month, we re kicking off with a fabulous new bind off you ll use again and again! Walk-in Help While there is always someone in the store to help you out, our knitting teacher Laura Cunitz will be in the store on these dates if you d like to stop in for some extra help! These times generally coincide with project classes. Times listed below are start times and last for about two hours.
