I want to express my deep appreciation for the help and support Alex has offered to the

members of OCIMF in his time here. I am grateful to Alex for taking time out of his busy schedule to answer the many questions I had while I was taking over the role of Technical Adviser (Offshore) and for ensuring a smooth transition. On behalf of members, I would like to thank Alex and wish him all the success in his upcoming assignment at Chevron. I join OCIMF from BP Shipping Limited, where I started my first assignment in vetting and clearance before moving on to work in marine offshore support. In this later role I provided marine risk management advice and support to upstream marine operations. This included identifying and assessing marine risk as well as recommending mitigation initiatives for all marine operations involving offshore support vessels. I have led several vessel owner s/operator s and third-party contractor assessments around the globe and provided valuable support to upstream, in particular as a subject matter expert in FPSO and shuttle tanker operations. If you would like to know more about me please visit my profile on the OCIMF website by clicking this link. The 15th meeting of the Floating Systems Group (FSG) was held at the OCIMF offices in London, UK from 13 14 September. The FSG reviewed progress on the following two publications: Cargo Guidelines for F(P)SOs - the FSG reviewed the Stage 2 Director's review of the publication and responded. The guidelines are now with the publisher and publication is expected later this year. Guidelines for Offshore Tanker Operations (GOTO) currently completing Stage 2 Director's review. ISGOTT is the next big publication to review after the Mooring Equipment Guidelines, Fourth Edition (MEG4) is completed. We are carrying out a gap assessment of the current edition against what we know today in October and November. To help this process along, we would like OCIMF members to submit known anomalies and propose other areas that need to be improved or updated to the OCIMF Secretariat. We would also like members to start considering suitable candidates to send to the working groups. A draft Terms of Reference (TOR) will be ready for approval in December and work groups

will begin in January. This is a joint publication with the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) and the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH). The OVID Focus Group (OFG) has over the past year been diligently working to update the various OVID documents. Here is a brief update on the status of each item. Offshore Vessel Particulars Questionnaire (OVPQ) The OFG has developed a more focussed and fit-for-purpose OVPQ that includes the ability to upload vessel spec sheets. We expect to release the OVPQ2 in early 2018 with a 90 day grace period between OVPQ and OVPQ2. To ease the transition between the OVPQ and OVPQ2, vessel operators will only have to log into the system and click Map OVPQ to OVPQ2. This will auto populate OVPQ data into OVPQ2. Once this has been completed the vessel operator will need to verify information has mapped across correctly and answer few new questions. Offshore Vessel Inspection Questionnaire (OVIQ) The development of the OVIQ3 and MODU2 is reaching the final stages. While creating these new questionnaires the OFG reviewed all comments received from vessel operators and OVID inspectors since the release of the OVIQ2 and MODU. Each suggestion had to be carefully considered, and at times debated, before making any changes to improve the next version of each questionnaire. The Small Vessel (<100grt) Questionnaire is currently under review by OFG. This questionnaire should be more fit-for-purpose than the previous version. The OVIQ3, MODU2 and Small Vessel (<100grt) Questionnaire are expected to be releases in 2Q 2018. Offshore Vessel Management and Self Assessment (OVMSA) Work on OVMSA2 is still progressing and is expected to be released in 3Q 2018. As work reaches final stages there will be more announcements, including a transition plan between OVMSA and OVMSA2. Two OVID User Group (OUG) meetings have been held in the past few

months. Feedback from these OUG meetings was shared with the OFG and has resulted in a few programme changes, including the ability for vessel operators to add unlimited comments and supply feedback to OCIMF on inspection reports. There will be more details to come. The 16th meeting of the OUG is scheduled for 20 February 2018 in Aberdeen, UK. As a reminder, the purpose of the OUG is to enable users of the OVID programme, including OVID Accredited Inspectors and Technical Vessel Operators, to provide their comments and feedback on the operations of the programme and where improvements might be considered. Virtual meeting capabilities may be available. If you are interested in participating, please send an email to ovid@ocimf.org and we will add your name to the invite list. Technical Vessel Operators registered with OVID can now apply to integrate with OCIMF Web Services. Integrating with OCIMF Web Services allows Technical Vessel Operators to automatically import their vessel inspection reports (OVIQs) and vessel particulars (OVPQ) from the OVID programmes into their vetting applications. Vessel operators can use the data received from OCIMF Web Services API for their own internal analysis, but must not share the data with third parties or submit it to external systems.to apply for OCIMF Web Services access, or for any enquiries, please contact: ovid@ocimf.org. Integrating the OCIMF Web Services within your applications will require some development work from your IT department. Please check with them before submitting an application. The schedule for OVID New Inspector and Refresher courses can be found on our website ocimf-ovid.org. The Offshore Vessel Inspection Database Programme (OVID) is offering the following New Inspector courses in 2018. Please note that New Inspector courses will be subject to demand and OCIMF will reserve the right to either change the date or cancel the course if there is insufficient interest.
