Detail of Operations Geophysical Survey Operations Mariners are advised that the M/V Ivero shall commence geophysical survey operations in the coming weeks. The survey area will be bounded by the coordinates shown in Table 1 and is displayed graphically in Figure 1. It is expected that the survey shall begin on 30 th May 2012 and shall last for approximately 4-6 weeks, expected to be complete around mid-july (mobilising from Lowestoft on 29 th May). David Screeton, the fisheries liaison representative shall be present on the vessel and can be contacted by hailing the vessel on VHF channel 16 and agreeing a working channel with the bridge. Alternatively, you can contact Nigel Proctor, the Fisheries Liaison Coordinator (contact details provided below). The vessel shall work for 24 hours per day, except in areas where static fishing gear will likely be encountered. During the survey, where pots or other static gear is not present the vessel will be operating a hullmounted multibeam echosounder, hull-mounted pinger, side scan sonar and magnetometer at various times. No equipment will be towed in areas of pots or other static fishing equipment; only hull-mounted equipment shall be used in these areas (multibeam echosounder and pinger). In places where towed equipment will be in use, the side scan sonar and marine magnetometer will be towed approximately 10-15 metres above the seabed and at a distance approximately 200 metres behind the vessels. The Ivero shall survey up to the 30m depth contour only.
