Schattdecor began work as a classical decor gravure printer and in the 30 years since has developed into a surfaces specialist. All over the world the family-owned company supplies leading firms in the wood-based panel and furniture industry with printed decor paper, foil and melamine film, processing over two thousand million square metres of print base paper every year. In developing its products still further, Schattdecor aligns its efforts to current market demands and adapts the continuous improvement of its surfaces accordingly. Particular importance is attached to the provision of advice and counselling tailored to individual customers. The international design team supports the sales team in an advisory capacity to ensure that themes always capture the pulse of the times. Although Schattdecor still mainly focuses on decor printing, its foil operations have been seeing a surge in significance. The company began producing foil in 1999, and the product has become an important segment within the Schattdecor group over the past several years. Schattdecor produces foil on advanced lacquer topcoating lines capable of handling widths of up to 275 cm. A high degree of operational efficiency and maximum product availability are ensured thanks to the 30 same-system printing presses and nine coating units that it operates at its international plants. The company s great variety of foil products requires teamwork and experience first and foremost. Its service package includes all-embracing advice on such aspects as design, decor development and processing, thus enabling the sales team to provide solutionoriented counselling aligned to customers specific requirements.
Our foil programme can be used in a wide range of individual applications as called for by the market. In the Smartfoil by Schattdecor and Postfoil by Schattdecor product lines incorporating pre-impregnated base paper and printed decor paper respectively, we offer variable combinations of paper, resin and lacquer systems in premium quality. Over 1,000 decors can be used for our foils as well as a broad array of solid-colour decor paper. Whether for furniture, flat surfaces or profiles, our classics are versatile in use and can be varied in gloss level from matte to high gloss. In the case of pre-impregnated base paper, different resistance levels can be achieved by varying the lacquer amount and type.
Real PORE In the furniture sector, real pore effects have been a firm favourite for many years, offering a distinguished gloss/matte look that makes our foil very natural in appearance. As genuine all-rounders, Smartfoil Real and Postfoil Real are characterised by convincing good looks and versatile uses.

A cost-effective choice Smartfoil ECO is a cost-effective solution for low-wear surfaces and is identical to the other products in our portfolio in terms of application characteristics.
High-quality decor surfaces from our foil collection master all prevailing performance tests. Standardised work processes on same-system printing presses, coating and impregnation lines and worldwide uniform test instructions ensure high quality at all our production facilities. Use of light-resistant printing inks as well as high-grade lacquer, resin and base paper is a further guarantee of the consistent high quality of our products. Our testing procedures and the Made by Schattdecor quality seal conform to the IHD Quality Guideline for Decor Finish Foil. Technical details are provided in our data sheets.
Environmental protection has always been a central goal of Schattdecor s corporate activities and one of its most important investments in the future. Our strict environmental rules apply at our production facilities all over the world. In our development and production work we deploy environmentally compatible materials and processes. Heavy-metal-free, water-soluble printing inks and lacquer systems as well as own wastewater treatment systems testify to the ecological principles that Schattdecor upholds. It is in this respect that our printing inks and surfaces fulfil such standards as the Swedish norm for children s toys, plus all our products are available with the FSC mark of responsible forestry.
