NOTES FROM JOHN The Board of Directors is working on identifying CCB members who may be able to step in and help run the club. We need a president and a field trip coordinator for the Board in addition to a few other assistants for other directors. This is YOUR club and I hope you give some serious thought to helping out. John Buck President CCB Coming soon This is why we need our camera club. In the next few months we have scheduled some super speakers, field trips and a popular workshop. In addition, we will have our year end Annual Print Competition and Dinner. Speakers: In September we host Eau Gallie resident and Fine Art Photographer Erika Masterson. Erika s presentation is detailed on the next page and will talk about portraiture. I know Erika and am a huge fan of her creativity, fearlessness and passion in her work. You will not want to miss this program. Local professional Robert Vanelli will speak in October and in November Jack Rogers will educate us regarding photographing shorebirds. Workshop: I will be offering an environmental portraiture workshop October 13. These have proven to be popular the past two years and I will have a sign-up sheet at the September and October meetings. There will be a $20 fee for a model. Field Trips: In September we go to Dudley Farm Historic State Park to photograph a little of Florida s history. In October a fun trip to downtown Ft. Pierce, the farmer s market and the Backus Museum. I scouted this trip and highly recommend you attend. And our annual bus trip in November will find us in downtown St. Petersburg. More details to come on these events. The point is our club is awesome. We educate one another, we learn from our guest speakers, and we enjoy the bus trips and field trips together. Now I am asking each one of you to consider helping us secure the future of our dynamic club by volunteering to help. Thank you! John 2

SPOTLIGHT ON LARRY BRYAN Larry was born in Hannibal, MO and raised in Paducah, Western Kentucky. An MBA graduate from the University of KY, he joined IBM s Data Processing Division in Lexington in 1968. After a 25-year career in sales, marketing, and executive management he retired in 1993. He lives in Indialantic and has three daughters and five granddaughters, including triplets. He uses a Nikon D5500 with a Tamron 16-300mm lens and a Nikon 50mm f/ 1.8G. He relies on Windows Photo Editor for any post-processing of his photos and will soon add Adobe Lightroom as another editing tool. Larry has long been interested in photography. A serious hobbyist, he seeks to improve his technical skills through the education courses, workshops, meetings, and competitions available to members of the Camera Club of Brevard. He marvels at how many skilled photographers he meets at the club, all of whom provide Larry with generous and inspirational support which has helped him become a better photographer. At club events, Larry likes to see photographs taken by other members, and learn how they shape their view of the world. He regards life as a series of pictures, and believes that every picture tells a story. For Larry, the story behind each image makes it vastly more interesting. To tell his own stories, Larry likes to travel both at home and abroad. Travel allows him to create captivating images of people, events, landscapes, and especially architecture. He favors Europe s historical cities, especially the opportunities they provide for a photographer, as do America s National parks and Civil War Battlefields and Civil War Cemeteries. Larry would like his photographs to inspire people and stir their emotions, perhaps even motivate them to put them up on their walls. 6
