MAY, 2018 the NEWSLETTER OF THE ARKANSAS LEAGUE OF ARTISTS IMPRESSIONS May Demo Artist, Janelle Selvidge ALA thoroughly enjoyed having Janelle Selvidge, an art teacher from Searcy, AR, as our May demo artist. Janelle received her Masters from Harding University and has taught many places, including Jacksonville High School and Arkansas State University at Beebe and Heber Springs. She said she started out as a realistic painter as most artists do, but then loosened up and is much more impressionistic now, as was shown in several paintings she brought. Janelle is probably the kind of teacher you wish you d had in school, fun, sharp, and very knowledgeable. She kept us laughing as she showed us, in an easily understood way, how to handle one and two point perspective drawings. She also gave us a couple of handouts that will be helpful in our paintings. You may call Janelle at (501) 270-2278 if you would be interested in taking one of her painting classes or workshops. Don t Forget!!!!

IMPRESSIONS Artists of the Month MAY, 2018 2018 May Winners 1 st - Eddie Smith 2 nd - Cindy Taylor 3 rd - Patricia Bueter 4 th - Debbie Stroble 5 th - Clarence Cash Tell Everyone ALA will be having an art sale at our June meeting! We are having our art sale at our June 26 meeting, so we are asking that each and every member please bring at least one (or more!) little 6 X6 paintings that night to donate to the sale and all proceeds will go toward the ALA Art Show. Of course we would be happy to accept any size. Plus, spread the word that we are going to be having a sale that evening, bring a friend and come early at 6:30! All 6 x 6 paintings will be sold for $20. If you bring another size, you will fill out the Silent Auction Bid form with the minimum starting amount. Then, members and friends will silently bid on those. Please invite your friends and family to come and enjoy a great way to purchase some new, original art! For questions, you may call our coordinator, Vonda Rainey, at (501) 772-4711. Thank You! 2
