June 19 2 to 7 pm Judging will be CLOSED to the public. ADULT FINE ARTS PROFESSIONAL EXHIBITORS are for those professional artists who TEACH, SELL, or have gallery shows. If you are hired to create a piece of art for a client, you are considered a professional. SEMI-PROFESSIONALS are for those who engage in arts and crafts work as a HOBBY or for the love of the work, they may sell some art, however, do not make their living form the sales, if you have made $1 or more in art, you are no longer an amateur, except for cash prizes and Cash Awards. If you attend classes or clinics in art, you are no longer an amateur. AMATEURS are those that treat art as a hobby only. They do not take professional classes; they have never made any money in art, with the exception of cash prizes and awards. NOVICE artists, have never won a blue ribbon in any show in art. ADULT RULES A. Entries must be the original work of the exhibitor within two years of the opening date of the fair to be eligible for premium awards. B. Entries shown in previous El Dorado County fairs will not be accepted. C. Professional exhibitors are not permitted to enter Semi- Professional. D. There is a limit of two entries per exhibitor per class. E. All exhibits MUST BE IN A SUITABLE FRAME/GALLERY WRAP and ready for hanging with screw eyes and wire, or they will not be hung. F. Size of entries is limited to no larger than 36 x48. G. All entries must have a title on the entry form. H. Copyright mark with date of creation is recommended in all works. I. Exhibitor s name shall be printed on the back of the entry. Exhibitor s name should not be exposed on the front of picture. If a name is on the front, please cover with tape. J. Nude studies or unpleasant, non-family friendly pieces will not be accepted and/or displayed. K. Professional and Semi-Pro Exhibits may be sold. A 20% commission will be charged. Entries must be labeled FOR SALE and the price indicated on the entry form. Sales must occur during Fair & purchaser must pick up item on release date, Monday following close of Fair. L. Insurance desired on any entry must be carried by the exhibitor. The fair will assume no responsibility for any article that is lost, stolen, or damaged. M. No entries will be released without a claim check or ID. N. No entries may be removed during the Fair. O. STATE RULES APPLY P. Entries will not be accepted if the above rules are not followed. June 19 2 to 7 pm TEEN & YOUTH FINE ART Department Chair: Caroline Mueller RULES A. Exhibitors are limited to one entry per class and a total of five entries. B. Teen Art entries must be mounted on matte board or construction paper. NO FOAMCORE BOARD. The fair reserves the right to reject any entry that cannot be hung. C. All entries must be the original work of the exhibitor. D. Exhibits must be adequately and correctly labeled on back of work (including name & age & title, if available). E. Exhibitors wishing insurance coverage must arrange for their own insurance. F. Overall dimensions must not exceed 20 x 24 for Teen Art & 12 x 18 for Youth Art. Entries will be disqualified if size is too large. G. Entries may be wrapped in plastic. H. The fair will use every precaution within its power for the safe preservation of all exhibits, but will not be responsible for loss or damage to any exhibit. I. Parent, Guardian or Teacher signature is required on entry form J. Teen Art judging will be done by the American Standards. K. Youth Art judging will be done by the Danish Standards. CLASS 1. Plein Air Painting at the El Dorado County Fair What is Plein Air Painting you ask? Plein Air translates to open air. This term is used to describe paintings that have been created outdoors, rather than in the studio. Photo references are not used. So come to the Fair and capture the fun and excitement of fair time on your canvas! For Plein Air Painting Forms Due By: Wed. May 24 4 pm FOR FREE FAIR ADMISSION Fri. June 16 6 pm ARTWORK TO BE DISPLAYED THROUGH FAIR Released: Mon. June 19 2 7 pm Who: Adults age 18 or over. Pre-registration is not required, you may enter the day of competition. However, all preregistered exhibitors will have a ticket at will call (Blue Gate) on day of contest. ENTRY FEE IS $10.00 LIMIT ONE ENTRY PER EXHIBITOR Where: Check-in at the Fine Arts Department located in the Organ Room between Noon and 2:00 PM, on Friday June 16. The artist s canvas, paper, board, etc. must be stamped by the art exhibit staff prior to beginning work. What: Judging: Bring your own art supplies; be ready to paint on location, within the Fairgrounds. Size limited to 36x36. Artwork must be affixed to a firm support board for display on easel. No matting or framing of art is allowed. Artwork to be completed and in Organ Room by 6 PM for judging. Can be crafted from wood, metal, dresser/chest of drawers, repurposed materials like tin, field fencing, farm implements, feeders, hide, etc. C. Must be useable. D. Must be original. E. Must be donated to the Farm Bureau for the Silent Auction. NOTE: This is an El Dorado County Farm Bureau fundraiser. Silent auction will end on Sunday, June 18 th at 5:00 p.m. A portion of the proceeds will benefit local agriculture programs. 1

Farm Bureau Requirements: Must have an agriculturebased theme attached, painted or constructed. Can be crafted from wood, metal, dresser/chest of drawers, repurposed materials like tin, field fencing, farm implements, feeders, hide whatever your imagination sees. Must be useable. Fundraiser Challenge: To create a bureau, dresser or chest of drawers that has an agricultural theme for the Farm Bureau s 100th Anniversary Celebration in June 2017. Donated entries will be showcased and auctioned by silent auction during the El Dorado County Fair, happening June 15-19. Accepting submissions from 25 artists/creatives by June 8th. Winning selections made by EDC Fair judges. Cash prizes awarded to 1st, 2nd & 3rd place, plus recognition for all entries in print & social media.
