Preview all the Games included in the Survivor Party Package You will be more an MC than a host- putting the Survivor spin on it as you introduce each new game. Suggestions for this spin are included in the package. Printable props included in the package are highlighted in yellow. Supplies to be either purchased or found around the house are highlighted in gray. Since this is a preview, printing the document is not permitted. You choose which games to use from the following (you can, of course, substitute or add any other game(s) of your choosing). Keep score for the teams after the first 3 games (dividing into teams, logos and treasure hunt)- 1 point for the team that wins each game. You can use a blackboard or dry erase board, but the most fun is to have makeup from the party store in the blue and green team colors and score with a stripe or dot on the faces for each point scored. They can decorate each other. Their wild looks keep up the team and competitive spirit. The games all work well either indoors or out. Welcome Poster- to hang in your entrance. Graphics and lettering are included in the packagecut and paste to a piece of posterboard to hang. Divide into Teams- (5 minutes) Have them organize themselves (a challenge at this age). Suggestions for fun ways to accomplish this are included. Logos- (1 to 10 minutes). Once teamed up, it s time for the team logos- your way of telling who is on which team. I ve provided two team logos you can print out on stickers or plain paper and pin them on. Each has a fully prepared logo sticker and one with only the name on it that can be given to the kids along with markers in their respective colors to decorate as they wish- a nice but short and neat craft activity for the kids. You can, of course, take this further and buy them colorcoded team bandanas- their party gift. Treasure Hunt- (less than 5 minutes). Following a trail of hidden (construction paper) gold coins, the kids will get from your entryway to your party room or outdoors, where you ve well hidden the Big Gold Coin with further instructions printed on it for the next game. This game starts the team competition- the team that finds the most wins a point for their team. (Score every game with 1 point- or the make-up as described above.) Word Games- (You have a choice of 2 games here, each about 10 minutes.) o Scramble- Where they have to find the 4 things they need to survive, letters for the scramble are included. o Word Search- A slightly more difficult version of the above, with 10 different puzzle pages included, plus solution keys for each. (Gummy) Worm Eating Contest- (10 minutes). Instructions to turn this into a very silly team competition, with a minimum of germ transfer and without anyone overdoing and getting sick are all included. Sleep Tight Game (Indoor Basketball Toss)- (10 minutes) Here s an example of putting the Survivor spin on it as you introduce the game: It s time to find a safe place to sleep tonight in one of the caves. BUT, to survive they have to make sure those caves are SAFE and no nasty animals are in there! No one has any weapons, so the only way to do that is to throw rocks in the caves and try to get any animals in there OUT! The team that gets the most rocks in the cave is the winner. No real rocks, so no trips to the emergency room. Instructions for creating your cave and rocks are included- they will be used again in a later game, and require stuff you ve already got around the house- no purchases. Scarecrow Game (Junk Construction)- (15 minutes). Each team gets a pile of stuff (all things you ve got around the house- list included) and 15 minutes to construct something that will scare
any animals away from their cave. You are the impartial judge of the results that determines the winner. If they re not outside already and it s not pouring or snowing, I d suggest moving the kids outside for the next couple of games, even if they have to put on their jackets- let em blow off some steam. Only two of these games, marked with an asterisk, are inappropriate for indoors. Apple Bob- (15 to 20 minutes). Believe it or not, today s kids have NEVER DONE THIS and they think it s a hoot! Do include it, even indoors if that s your only choice, with the use of a cheap painters tarp in your garage, porch or basement. Instructions for making your own watertight container are included. *Monsoon Toss (water balloons)- Played on a team basis (instructions included), the object is to stay as dry as possible- the player left dry at the end wins for his team. *Hercules Challenge- Good old-fashioned tug of war. Roughing It- (10 minutes). Life on this island is NO PICNIC! No bathrooms, no TV, no plates, no silverware! You have to eat everything with your hands! And the next challenge determines who REALLY has to eat with their hands. And for birthday cake and ice cream- that s messy! This one I m keeping a secret, available only in the party package itself. No purchases required. PIRATES!!- (15 to 20 minutes) Use this game to get the kids back inside if you wish. Some Survivor has reported that Pirates are on the island! With the help of an adult or older kid as a Pirate, lead the kids back inside, by a very circuitous route, or somewhere else outside to find the scoundrels back at your cave. It s clear they ve been driven back off the island, but look what they left behind? Is it Treasure? Whose brave enough to find out? Yucky stuff suggestions provided. Smarty Pants (Riddle Contest)- (10 to 15 minutes) 2 pages of riddles (with answers) provided. It s now time to compute the team scores and determine the winners. Have a helper take the losing team (but don t tell which team won yet!) into another room or another part of your yard and have them all turn away from the door and close their eyes. Material needed for this ambush is disclosed in the party package. And that s the end of the games. Time for a hilarious cake and ice cream (the last game ), and the announcement of the winning team, and your party gifts, if any. Survivor Certificate and other gift ideas are included. It s terrific fun, and with the instructions and props included in the party package it doesn t take long to put together. You d spend a lot of time recreating these items yourself. Plus, there s very little to purchase, so your budget stays intact. Lastly, they have so much fun playing the games, you don t need to spend on fancy paper goods, decorations or even the traditional loot bags since you get the Survivor Certificate to send home with them.
