We have had a number of questions on how they are made and which stabilizers to use. The first hour will be a lecture /demo with many tips for completing this scene. You may pack your lunch and spend the day embroidering or you may choose to only stay for the instructions. Stitch-N-Time Staff 1 class Wednesday: Oct. 27, 9:30am Class fee $15 (plus $39 for embroidery design collection) Nativity Scene Quilt as you go The quilt-as-you-go approach enables today s busy quilt maker to quilt a piece in smaller segments and then put those together to complete a quilt. When done properly these methods will not show from the front and can add interesting design detail to the quilt back. Quilting small units keeps the work in manageable sizes and facilitates the quilting process. The time and effort to assemble the pre-quilted units is certainly far less than the time needed for quilting in the traditional way. You will learn at least 7 techniques for making quilts by quilting small units and then assembling them into a whole quilt. Carol Blevins 1 class Thursday: Oct. 28, 9:30am - 4:00pm Class Fee: $25 (plus $15 kit fee payable to instructor at beginning of class)
Portable Design Wall Remember the last time you needed to arrange and rearrange your blocks for a quilt, and you kneeled down on the floor to do it, then had trouble getting back up? Or when you laid them out on a bed and your cat jumped up and decided to arrange them himself? I have the solution...an INEXPENSIVE, rollable, foldable, stick in the closet or under the bed when not in use, design area. I hang mine over a closet door when I'm creating my quilts, and as I finish a block, I hang the block on the "wall", step back and check my arrangements. When I'm finished, I just roll it back up and stick it in the closet...so simple, as is the construction. See what you can do with a fabric strip from your stash, dowel rods, and felt. Ellen Harkins 1 class Wednesday: Nov. 3, 9:30-11:30am Class fee $15 Foundation Paper Piecing In this class you will learn basic paper piecing using foundation papers. Jan Hirneisen 1 class Monday: Nov. 8, 1:00-3:00pm Class fee $20 Curves and piping Putting a tiny piping next to the binding is a really neat touch! Then you ll add it to curved edges within a block. You ll put 9 blocks together and have a really great design. And the really cool thing is there is no curved piecing!!!!!
