BossDim RS User manual - UK
Congratulations on acquiring your new BossDim RS We are happy you have chosen our product to control your home lighting, and we hope it gives you hours of pleasure. On the following pages you can read all you need to know about using your BossDim RS, which can either be operated at the touch of a finger or from a B&O remote control, which can be programmed to remember as many as 9 different light scenarios. Connection The product should be connected straight to a 230V supply, and the light source connected to the outlet. The BossDim RS has connections for wires on both sides so that the wires of both can be led out on the same side or one on each side when fitting to ceiling mounted lamps.
Z-wave The BossDim RS has a built-in radio transmitter and receiver. The Z-Wave protocol is used to communicate with other INNOVUS units. The range is approx 30 meters. All non battery-operated INNOVUS units act as repeaters which can re-transmit radio signals if there is a need for distances in excess of 30 meters. A control unit is needed to use the B o s s D i m R S in a Z-Wave network, such as e.g. INNOVUS Smoothremote, INNOVUS Smartswitch or INNOVUS House controller. Consult the instructions for use for the control unit for more information. When you are requested to activate the unit, in this case the BossDim RS, which is to be registered in the Z-Wave network, the BossDim RS will be temporarily affected. Then the control unit will indicate that the new unit has been registered in the Z-Wave network. Note that the BossDim RS and the control unit must be located within 2 meters of each other when the BossDim RS registered in/deregistered from the Z-Wave network. When the BossDim RS is connected to the Z-Wave network it cannot be used immedi - ately. You must first tell the control unit which button you wish to assign to your new BossDim RS. As part of the same process you will be asked to activate the unit, which is done in the same way. Now you can operate your new BossDim RS dimmer in the same way as you operate it locally. Several units can be connected to the same group/button on the control unit.

Operation The BossDim RS is fitted with a touch-sensitive stainless steel strip which is controlled by gentle touching. The BossDim RS can distinguish between a short touch of the hand and continuous touching. A brief touch of the BossDim RS will switch lights on and off. When the BossDim RS is switched on by a brief touch of the hand the light intensity will re - turned to the same level as when it was switched off. NB! If a BossDim RS is left switched off, after e.g. a power cut it will remain extinguished when the power is restored. In the same way, it will return to the same intensity if the BossDim RS was already switched on. A continuous touch to the BossDim RS will increase light intensity to 100% or untilyour hand is removed. To reduce light intensity, touch the BossDim RS briefly and then touch continuously. The light intensity will decrease to 10% or until your hand is removed. The BossDim RS has been designed with a sleep function so it can dim light intensity from the current level to off over 30 minutes. Briefly touch the BossDim RS twice to acti - vate this function. When the BossDim RS is switched on again by a brief touch of the hand, light intensity will return to the same intensity as before the function was activated. The BossDim RS can be operated as normal even when the sleep function is active, but this will deactivate the sleep function. Besides the touch-sensitive steel strip, the B o s s D i m R S is fitted with a red LED which flashes while the BossDim RS is altering light intensity.
B&O The BossDim RS can be operated from a B&O remote control. All units in the same room can be operated at one and the same time, or individual dimmers may be allocated a unique number (1-9). Light intensity can be increased or decreased or completely extinguished. Up to 9 different lighting scenarios can be set up in each room, e.g. for television, eating etc. The BossDim RS has 9 different programmable light intensities which can be selected from a B&O remote control. The manufacturer's default settings are as follows: Program no. 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 Intensity 20% 30% 40% 50% 60% 70% 80% 90% 100% If there is more than one BossDim RS or some other B&O dimmer in the same room, each dimmer can be assigned a number from 1 to 9 for individual control. The BossDim RS has no manufacturer's default number.
