Keith is a native of Midland, Texas and now resides in Southlake, Texas with his wife Carol Ann. He received his B.A. and M.A. from West Texas State University and is a member of the Portfolio Management Institute and The Institute for Preparing Heirs, an organization dedicated to coaching high net worth families through wealth management. As a Family Wealth Director at Morgan Stanley, Keith has obtained and maintains a unique position within the firm as a result of rigorous training and experience and is highly dedicated to working to achieve the needs and goals of ultra-high net worth families. Eric joined a Morgan Stanley predecessor firm in 2005 and currently focuses on wealth management strategies for high net worth individuals, multigenerational families, nonprofit organizations, trustees and fiduciaries. He performs a number of vital functions for The Wood Group, including in-depth financial planning, hedging strategies, global market research, and new business planning and development. Terri Thomas Senior Registered Associate Carlye Yanker Registered Associate Terri began her financial services career at a Morgan Stanley predecessor firm approximately 30 years ago. She has served clients in Midland-Odessa, Houston, West Palm Beach and Los Angeles before moving back home to Midland in 2004. She joined The Wood Group one year later. Terri holds her Series 7 and 63 securities registrations and performs a variety of functions that are critical to the success of our day-to-day operations. These include appointment scheduling and account documentation, as well as fielding clients requests for deposits, withdrawals and distributions. Terri anticipates issues before they arise and takes great pride in the personalized service she provides to clients. Carlye joined our team in 2015 after a successful career at Fidelity Investments, where she served in a variety of capacities, including financial representative at the Dallas branch, giving her experience with many clients on a daily basis. Carlye holds her Series 7 and 66 securities registrations. She performs in a hybrid capacity, which includes day-to-day operations, as well as marketing aspects for The Wood Group. Having experienced this type of request previously, we recommended that we meet with each of their advisors CPAs, attorneys and insurance agent separately to first ensure the information we had was complete. We then shared the information with each member of our client s advisory team so that there was a complete understanding of where our client stood. After obtaining information from each of the advisors, we engaged the Advanced Planning Directors in Morgan Stanley s Wealth Planning Center to discuss our client s situation and possible opportunities for improvement. This provided us with the ability to help fix many overlooked issues. One issue was resolved by recommending that the CPA file a 709 for gifts made to our client s children via an existing Family Limited Partnership years after the initial gift was made. In addition, changes within the estate plan itself were updated and we brought in an insurance specialist to review unique options to help fund our client s philanthropic wishes using retirement assets. This resulted in funding a Life Insurance Trust from Required Minimum Distributions and purchasing a last to die policy in the trust. This strategy removed the assets from their estate and will enable funds to pass tax free to their heirs, thus helping to retain their financial legacy. The remaining retirement assets were then pledged to their charities of choice via Morgan Stanley s Donor Advised Funds program. THE WOOD GROUP 7
