Assembly Instructions: Vane Kit Components 1 ASSEMBLE LIGHT TRAP VANE KIT COMPONENTS ATTENTION: If kit number ends with letter A, light trap is preassembled. Skip Procedures 1 & 2 and continue with Procedure 3. 4. Slide a tube spacer onto each rod and add another vane. 5. Repeat Step 4 until all vanes are used. Complete these steps: 1. Gather the 113397 vane kit components and unpack vanes keeping them in order as packed. 2. Place one (1) rod cap nut firmly on one end of a rod. Use a nut driver (or similar tool) and a hammer to seat cap on rod. Repeat to install a cap on one end of each remaining rods. 6. After installing all vanes, install a cap nut on the end of each rod to secure final vane. 3. With assistance, stand rods upright with cap nuts at the bottom. Place one vane over all rods. Vane Spacer ATTENTION: Before installing cap nut, determine if a 3/8" spacer is needed. Vanes should be tight once final cap nut is installed. Cap Nut 7. Finally, turn assembled vane kit so vanes are vertical. 8. Continue by assembling vane kit frame. See Procedure 2. Revision date: 05.10.18 115595 5

Skip Procedures 1 & 2 and continue with Procedure 3. Light trap frame top/bottom panels (2) Complete these steps: Light trap frame side panels (2) 1. Use diagram below to assemble frame. Secure frame using rivets and customer supplied rivet gun. B Light trap aluminum angle (sides) (2) Light trap aluminum angle (top/bottom) (2) 2. Attach aluminum angles to top and bottom frame panels first using rivets. NOTE: Aluminum angle for top and bottom panels will extend beyond panel edges as shown. A A 3. Next attach aluminium angle to side panels in place using rivets. 4. Attach light trap to building. 2 3 B 1 ATTENTION: Bottom aluminum angle includes a grommet hole for the cable to pass through for motorized shutter applications. Install 113392 grommet into hole. Does not apply if light trap is not installed over a motorized shutter assembly. 6 115595 Revision date: 05.10.18
3 INSTALL Assembly Instructions: 115595 & 115595A SLANT FAN, SEPARATE SHUTTER ASSEMBLY, ADAPTER BO, & LIGHT TRAP Complete this procedure to install slant fan, shutter assembly, adapter box, and light trap. Complete these steps: 1. Measure fan and shutter and frame rough opening in end wall accordingly. (Frame tubing greater than 2" requires longer fasteners. Purchase locally if needed.) Tek screws are to secure to metal framing. Purchase different fasteners for framing that is wood or other material. 2. Set fan/shutter in place and install four (4) FA4482B Tek screws (one in each flange). Do not install in corners or in center position of any fan/shutter flange. These are mounting bolt positions. Support fan on outside if needed. See diagram at the lower-left of this page. 3. From inside the building, drill 3/8 holes for mounting bolts through shutter/fan flanges and frame in locations shown below (x's) for the correct fan size. Tek Screw Tek Screw Step 2 Tek Screw Step 3 Size 3' x 3' or larger: For kits that include 3' x 3' or larger fans or shutters, drill a hole in each corner and one between each corner as shown by 's in the diagram above: eight (8) holes total. Tek Screw WIRING NOTE: Read through this procedure and determine at what point you want to connect power to the fan. Run wire to the fan before installing the shutters, or complete this procedure and remove the protective wire grate from outside the fan. Connect wire and reinstall the wire grate. Assembly Instructions: 115595 & 115595A 3 INSTALL SLANT FAN, SEPARATE SHUTTER ASSEMBLY, ADAPTER BO, & LIGHT TRAP continued 4. With assistance, center adapter box over fan and shutter opening and on top of Tek screws. 5. Hold box in place and use a level to ensure box is positioned correctly. 6. From outside end wall, run a drill bit through all mounting holes (Step 3) to mark these locations on the adapter box flange. Also, use a marking pen to mark the adapter box top to ensure correct repositioning. 7. Set adapter box on a flat surface and finish drilling the 3/8" mounting holes in locations marked in previous step. 8. Take the FA3182 elevator bolts and install one in each mounting hole by inserting from outside the end wall. (Ends of bolts will be inside the building flat head of bolt to the outside.) 9. Add a FAMF03B fender washer and 115161 jam nut to each bolt and tighten to secure fan/shutter. Remove Tek screws installer earlier in Step 2. Assembly Instructions: 115595 & 115595A 3 INSTALL SLANT FAN, SEPARATE SHUTTER ASSEMBLY, ADAPTER BO, & LIGHT TRAP continued 10. With assistance, lift box back into position to check mounting hole alignment with bolts. Ream mounting holes as needed to allow box to slide onto each mounting bolt. Once you are able to easily place adapter box in position, carefully set it on a flat surface with its mounting flange facing up. 11. Next, take the 111983 weather stripping and attach it to the adapter box flange. Make small cuts at each bolt hole to allow mounting bolts to pass through when box is lifted into position. ATTENTION: Weather stripping expands quickly. Have all 5/16" nuts, lock washers and flat washers ready to install before weather stripping is applied to box flange. Complete the next step before weather stripping is fully expanded. Do not apply stripping and allow it set for later installation. 12. With assistance, lift adapter box into place and set onto all mounting bolts. Install a FALB02B nut (a), FAMA37B lock washer (b), and FAME07B flat washer (c) onto each bolt. See diagram below. Bolts are accessible inside the adapter box. 13. From inside the box, check for light penetrating through corners and seal with customer supplied opaque caulk or tape.
