To: Architectural Design Review Board From: Ed Wilson, ADRB Subject: OLD BUSINESS - AGENDA ITEM # 1 228 Linden Street Painting Impacts: William Wilks, Applicant Meeting Date: 10/4/2016 Received Application: 9/9/2016 Tabled: 9/20/2016 German Village Historic District
Introduction: The Applicant, William Wilks, has submitted a Certificate of Appropriateness Application for the property of 228 Linden Street. The proposal involves painting of the property. The subject property of 228 Linden Street is part of the German Village Historic District and is Zoned BPD Business Planned Development. Background: This property was reviewed by the Architectural Design Review Board at the September 20, 2016 meeting. The board motion at that meeting was the tabling of the proposal, which occurred with the applicant s agreement. The main point of contention from the ADRB was the estimation that the color proposed for the body of the house, Zombie (Porter Paints), was too dark, and that a lighter shade was preferred. Secondarily, the trim color proposed for the house Black Magic was also deemed too dark, however there was a suggestion that using the aforementioned Zombie color could be acceptable. Further Information The ADRB Secretary researched the proposed paint swatch of Zombie and ascertained several lighter swatches of gray, relevant to the aforementioned paint swatch. The methodology for selection included a scope of lighter shades of the Zombie gray color, but was limited to darker half shade where possible, to keep with the intended theme of the applicant s initial proposal and intent. These items and other relevant possibilities for painting the body of the structure have been included in the report as Exhibit Items. As of this report, Mr. Craig Wilks is working on a revised paint proposal for the property. The proposal has not been received yet. Furthermore, Mr. Craig Wilks and Mr. Bill Wilks were sent an email containing the aforesaid suggestedpossible swatches for the body color, for their consideration and inclusion. Page 4
