SUCCESS IN MARY KAY Nothing comes easy to those who wait, yet success comes to those who try!! As Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultants you can have success if you approach your new business as just that, a business, not a hobby. Even if you choose to build your business working fewer hours, the hours you do devote to your business will reap the greatest rewards if you are focused. To get focused, you must: 1. Within the first week you receive your kit, open it up, and familiarize yourself with the contents. Watch the skin care class video at least twice or take a model to the Live Skin Care education class. Begin reading Career Essentials. 2. Decide how you are going to approach your business, either with inventory, taking orders, or a combination of both. 3. Start putting your guest list together. 4. Attend all success and education meetings. Remember, no one knows everything,even Independent Sales Directors. Don t forget - Those that show up; go up! 5. Consistently attend your weekly sales meetings. They are your lifeblood, fuel for your engine. 6. Set your goals! This needs to be approached in three steps: First - Short Term. What do you want to accomplish within the first 60 days? At the end of that time, assess where you are and reset them for the next month. Second - Long Term. What do you want out of your business for the first year? Discuss this with your Sales Director. Where you want to be in a year will help determine what your daily, weekly, and monthly goals will be. Third - Put goals in writing. Written goals work! Unwritten goals don t! Be realistic in what you want. The only one who has control over you meeting your goals is you. 7. Begin recruiting immediately your first day! The longer you wait to share your excitement the harder it might be for you to open your mouth! Remember, just sell the appointment for your prospect to become educated on the career opportunities. We will educate them at the event! A NO is just one more step closer to a YES, and usually means, tell me more. 8. Plan! Whether you re spending one hour on your Mary Kay business or eight hours, have a plan. Write down what you want to accomplish, assign it a priority (1,2,3), ask yourself if what you ve written down is going to make money. If it s not - cross it off your list. It s not important. Make sure you accomplish all your 1 s for the day. At the end of your Mary Kay day, review your plan and make your next day s plan. This is simple, it works if you work it, and it makes you feel great!!! 9. Be consistent! Consistency is the key. Whatever you commit to do it consistently and you will succeed! 10. No question is too small. The company and I want you to succeed so please call you ll feel better. 11. Professionalism! Always present yourself in a positive light. Try to wear tailored dresses and skirted suits to ALL beauty shows, meetings, and recruiting appointments. I have read that a woman in a skirt inspires trust, appears better educated and looks more professional. Be professional in your contacts with people. Follow up, punctuality and returning phone calls promptly are the best way to look like you are a dedicated professional. 12. Go-Give Spirit. 13. Attitude. Attitude is 85% and skill is 15%. Attitude determines your altitude. Attitude is a choice - it takes work to stay positive. Here are some things to think about: What do you feed your brain? Who do you hang around with? We get out of life what we expect. Stay busy, don t get paralysis from analysis! Be enthusiastic, you can t sell people if you re not. What you think about, you bring about! Do you wake up and say Good morning God or Good God it s morning? 14. Four Phases of a new Consultant. 1st Phase Excitement 2nd Phase Frustration 3rd Phase Crisis 4th Phase Recommitment

Set up your Mary Kay website ($30 for the 1st year, $60 each year after) 4. Order your business cards from MK Connections on your Intouch site. 5. Set up your propay account. It is $39.95 annually. You can pay all at once, or split up into 3 payments. 6. Open a separate Mary Kay checking account for your business. 7. Complete your customized look on Intouch
