Sunhouse Assembly Manual This manual is designed to simplify the assembly process, however we recommend having an experienced carpenter involved in the project. Please read through the entire manual before starting! The sunhouse assembled for this manual was a 12 x12 square wood sunhouse, painted white. This manual can also be used for other sizes. It took 2 men, approximately 12 hours using the tools shown. However, it may take you longer since it will be a new project for you. Take a deep breath and get at it; the satisfaction and enjoyment of this sunhouse is only a few hours away. Have fun! You have purchased a product that consists of heavy, bulky pieces. Your sunhouse will come in (2) or more packages. Place the packages as close to the building location as possible. Remove protective plastic wrap carefully. Use a utility knife and cut open. Use caution and be sure not to cut into materials inside. Set floor panels into position. Place doorway in your desired location. Floor comes in (2) or more sections. Set both sections together and align outside edges evenly. Insert 3.1/2 floor bolts into pre-drilled holes. Use flat washers on both sides of floor joists.
Ensure edges are aligned evenly up and down and left and right. Then tighten securely using a 9/16 ratchet and wrench. Fasten 2x4 floor joists to 4x4 runner below using 3 Brown Screws approximately every 16 (toed). Install remaining plywood sections. Fasten plywood to floor joists below using 2 brown screws approximately every 8. Door Ensure floor is set correctly so your door is in your desired location.
Set wall panels into place starting at a corner. Corner panels have a small bevel along (1) Side. Put a small bead of caulk onto inside edge of floor board below area where wall panel will set onto. Bead of Caulk Place second corner wall panel beside first one. Corner panels are beveled. Squeeze out a bead of Caulk before installing each Panel.
Measure from edge of (1) panel to outside of the other panel 2.5/8 Fasten panels together using a 3 Brown Screw (Toed) - Tighten securely together. Install 3.1/4 square post at corner. Align outside of post to outside of wall panels evenly at top and bottom. Fasten wall panels to corner post using (10) 3 Brown Screws (1) Approximately every 20.
2.1/2 Screws 3 Screws Continue to install wall panels going around sunhouse. DO NOT fasten panels to floor until all panels are installed. Fasten panels together using (5) 3 screws every horizontal stud (toed) slightly into opposite side horizontal stud. Use (4) 2.1/2 brown screws at every section in between horizontal studs. Continue along side of sunhouse working towad the Corner. Install corner panels same as previous corner. Be sure to use Corner Panels in the corners, Corner panels have beveled edge. After completing two corners and one side. Adjust wall panels by slideing wall assembly left or right to a center into position.
Continue around sunhouse using the same previous steps. Continue around sunhouse using the same previous steps. Install door panel same as other wall panels
Measure both ends of wall to outside of floor, and set equally to center position. Do this at each side. Slide one whole wall one direction or the other direction to place at center position onto floor. Inside corner view. Using 3 Brown Screws Fasten all corners to floor first. After Fastening Corners, measure outside center panels to outside edge of floor before fastening down to floor. Fasten wall to floor at every joist below, and every 12 at side of continuous joist, using 3 Brown Screws.
Install Roof Panels. On rectangles start with the long sections first, front and back. On squares work going around the sunhouse. Slide Roof Panels up into position. Prop up the inside using a 2x4 or adjustable rod. Fasten the roof panel and the 2x4 or adjustable rod securely together so roof panel doesn t fall. Place Roof Panel onto Corner Posts and center onto each side. Measure inside reveal at both ends and set equally on both sides. Roof panels will be numbered, set matching numbers together. Fasten wall to Roof Panel using a 3 Brown Screws at every rafter. Fasten this first roof section only, until the whole roof is installed so that the roof can be shifted into proper position.
Install adjacent roof panel. Ensure Corner is aligned properly. Clamp together tightly and insert a roof bolt. Using (2) flat washes and (2) acorn nuts on both sides of Raftes, align inside sections evenly and tighten roof bolts. Continue checking alignment with bottom of hip rafters filling all pre-drilled holes using roof bolts, washers and nuts and tighten roof bolts. Continue around the sunhouse. Install last panel then fasten roof panels together as shown in previous steps. Check alignment with bottom of hip rafters and fill all pre-drilled holes using roof bolts, washers and nuts and tighten roof bolts.
Align outside corners evenly. Fasten together using (1) 2.1/2 White Head Screw. (On wood sunhouses Only) Measure outside of wall to roof facia approximately 2.1/2 and push in or out before fastening together. Fasten wall panel to roof panels using (1) 3 screws at every rafter above.
Prep for wiring using a 1/2 drill bit. Drill down & out at wire entry point. Drill through each wall stud around sunhouse to desired receptacle locations. Approximately 12 high off of floor. Drill out corner using 1.1/4 drill bit. Run wiring around sunhouse. Fold out extra wire at receptacle locations. Run wire through holes, around corner to switch area and then up wall.
Run wire up the wall at switch area. Fold out extra wire for switch Drill up through top of wall and onto side of rafter to run wire to the top of center of ceiling.
Capping the Ridge. Start 1st Capper centered on ridge down past corner. Fasten using (2) 1 Roof Nails per Capper. Fasten Nail through black tar strip. Place second capper into place. Align bottom of 2nd capper w/ small groove of the capper below it. Leave approximately 5 exposure to the weather. Fasten using (2) 1 Roof Nails per Capper. Fasten Nail through black tar strip. Trim the bottom edges using a shingle scissors or a utility knife. Continue up the ridge using the same previous steps. Install cappers in a nice straight row for a neat appearance from ground view. Trim the Top Last piece will need cut in half and will bring the corners together.
Place 3pcs of window shims onto the window sill. Tack down with a staple or nail. Install correct sized window into window opening. Align window panel inside window frame so that top and bottom reveal is equal. Close window to almost closed position then align gap equally from top to bottom then fasten window to frame on outside. Fasten window to 2x4 frame using 1.5/8 White Screws at every other hole.
Install Long Vertical Outside Window Trim first. Slide window trim into window J channel and align evenly at bottom of channel. Fasten window trim using 2.1/2 White Screws into pre-drilled holes. Install oppostie side Vertical Trim. Install Short Horizontal Outside Window Trim first onto top and bottom using 2.1/2 White Screws into pre-drilled holes. Complete all remaining Windows and trim.
Install 5.1/2 Corner Post Trim. Align evenly with outside edge of post. Fasten to post using (5) 2.1/2 White Screws in pre-drilled holes. Install second 5.1/2 corner trim. Align second piece evenly with outside of first piece. Complete all remaining Corners.
Install 3.1/2 Panel Splice Trim. Place center onto splice. Fasten using (5) 2.1/2 White Screws into predrilled holes. Complete all remaining splice trim pieces. Insert Window Rain Gutter covers. Pop into place using both thumbs Install upper inset Pop into place.
Install 1x6 T&G Ceiling Boards. Start at the bottom with the longest piece. Place the ends of the T&G Ceiling Boards at about center of (1) hip rafter, not the center of both rafters. Fasten to roof rafters above using 2 finish nails (2) per rafter. Install Secound board inserting T&G boards together and fasten to rafter above. Continue working from the bottom up finishing one side completley. You can use a rubber mallot to tap boards together or a chisel also works good. Pound chisel into rafter on an angle then push down onto board. Continue until all (4) sides are complete.
Run wire down at the center point. Install Center Block feed wire through pre-drilled hole. Fasten Center Block to ceiling using 3 Brown Screws into pre-drilled holes. Install inside T&G boards. Longer pieces go beside the window, fasten to wall panel using (10) 2 finishing nails. Medium sized pieces go below the windows. Fasten to wall panel using (4) finish nails. Fasten to top stud & bottom stud so the finish nails get hidden with trim strips. Fasten shortest boards at top of window using (4) 2 finish nails per board.
You will need to cut a few long 1x6 boards to fit out around window. Measure space across and from top down. Mark out on 1x6 T&G Board Install Board Cut board to fit at window opening Continue working around sunhouse installing top & bottom shorter boards and Triming around windows as shown in previous steps. Cut out notch for receptacle. Top of receptacle box notch to floor may not exceed 17 or it will fall on 2x4 stud. Trace out box and cut opening. Receptacle can be centered below window or mounted to the side of a 2x4 stud. Fasten Receptacle Box to side of 1x6 T&G board using (4) 1.1/4 Screws. Fastening to the side of a T&G board. Run wires through the side of the electric box. Continue all the way around the sunhouse using the previous steps.
Measure inside from wall to wall to cut top trim piece to fit correctly. Cut at a 45 degree bevel at corner and install trim piece. Fasten Top Trim using 2.1/2: finish nails (2) every 16 Install Ceiling Corner Trim pieces. Measure, Cut and fit into place. Cut top end at 26 degree angle. Fasten with (2) 2.1/2 finish nails every 16 Finish Look
Install Window Sills. Install top and bottom first Then install side strips. Align window sill trim evenly with the 1x6 T&G boards. Fasten using 2.1/2 finish nails.
Install 2.3/8 window trim, upright sides first. Place window trim so that the reveal is equal all the way around. Fasten using 2.1/2 finishing nails. Completed Window Corner View Vinyl Floor is pre-cut. Trim edges where necessary. Roll linoleum onto floor.
Measure for bottom base board trim. Cut to proper length at 45 degree bevel at each end. 45 degree bevel at each end. Fasten using 2.1/2 finish nails. Install Corner trim, Measure, cut, install Finish Look.
Install threshold strip 5/16 x 3/4 slide in against bottom 2x4 door jamb and staple down to floor. Install Door Use Shims on side of door where needed Fasten Door Jamb to 2x4 stud using (3) 2.1/2 Screws through empty holes in hinge. Fasten other side (knob side) using (4) 2.1/2 White Screws. Install door trim strip.
Install outside trim using (4) 2.1/2 White Screws through pre-drilled holes. Fasten Top Trim using (3) 2.1/2 White Screws. Install Door Latch. If Painted or Stained, Touch up where necessary. Completed.
