VESDURA VINYL PLANKS 3MM PVC GLUE DOWN - OAK COLLECTION Safety First CAUTION Asbestos Warning in existing floor. Do not sand, dry scrape, bead blast or mechanically pulverize existing resilient flooring. Those products may contain asbestos fibers that are not identifiable. Using the above non-recommended procedures, an asbestos containing material can create asbestos dust. The inhalations of asbestos dust may cause serious bodily harm. Owner / Installer Responsibility: Consultation to discuss about installation and layout should be done prior to installation between the owner and installer. The owner/ installer assumes all responsibility for product quality of completed installation Storage: Store flooring products in a dry and clean area. Do not store flooring products in uncontrolled environmental conditions. Flooring stored on concrete slab should be elevated at least four inches to allow air circulation under boxes. Pre-Install Inspection / Preparation Flooring to be installed in one large area should be purchased at the same time. Check all boxes of flooring to ensure: you have the product and color that you ordered, the packaging condition, and that pattern and production LOT numbers found on the box are the same. Acclimate the flooring in unopened box for at least 24 hours at room temperature between 64 F (18 C) ~ 68 F (20 C) prior to installation. The room temperature should be maintained during installation and for 48hours after completion. Job Site Condition: Make sure work area is well lit. Ensure all other trades (walls, ceilings and windows etc.) are completed work prior to installing flooring. Sub-Floor Requirement Concrete Moisture: New concrete floor must be cured and dried out at least 30 days prior to installation. Its moisture content should be less than 4.5% when tested with moisture meter or calcium chloride test kit. Concrete moisture content may be acceptable at the time of the test, however the test does not guarantee a perpetual dry concrete slab. The concrete slab moisture content can vary at other times of the year which can damage the installed flooring. Light Weight Concrete: For glue-down application, the surface should be hard so the concrete should possess shear strength greater than the glue. Make sure the floor: is clean and free of paint (including epoxy/urethane based), solvent, wax/lacquer thinner, grease, oil and dust is smooth and level without any bumps or low spots; within 1/8 in a 10 foot span Uneven area must be fixed by grinding or by filling with cement patching compound formulated for use in floor installation. Existing Floors: Installation over existing floor may not be recommended. It requires the owner/installer to consider potential issues as they may cause the vinyl planks to expand and contract excessively resulting in gaps. When installing over radiant heat (heated floors), ensure radiant heat is turned off for three hours prior to install, during installation and three hours after installation. Wood Sub-floor Requirement: It must be clean; no presence of construction debris, soil, mud and any other objects on or adhering to the floor including no protrusions of nails. It must be structurally sound and stable including no movements or squeaks, no loose Page 1

panels or loos nails, no signs of ply de-lamination or other damages. It must be flat without any bumps or low spots; within 1/8 in a 10 foot span. It must be dry. Floor Layout / Installation Place a mark in the center of the floor at each end of the room. Snap a chalk line between the marks original center line: To avoid small narrow planks along the walls, divide the distance from the center line to the wall by the plank width. If the remainder is less than one half width of a plank, adjust the center line one half width of a plank in either direction. This will provide a balanced layout with larger cut pieces at the wall: As a general practice, planks are normally installed running in the long direction of the main room and also begin laying planks in L-shape direction of the main room: Page 2

Ensure that a substantial amount of adhesive is applied: Use trowel design as specified by adhesive manufacturer. Using a larger trowel will result in excess adhesive coming up between seams. Do not spread adhesive on more area than you can work with. Allow the adhesive to dry to tack for a minimum of 60 minutes or until it can be touched without transfer. Continuously check the transfer of adhesive THROUGHOUT the installation process. If the adhesive no longer transfers to the back of the flooring material, it must be removed and new adhesive applied. Start installing the plank along the center line. Complete each row, including pieces at the wall, before proceeding to the next row. If the plank has directional mark on the back then be sure to maintain the same directional placement during the installation. Position each plank, lightly against the previous one, by pressing it firmly into place without sliding it. Cutting a plank to fit: The last row of planks will need to be cut to fit to walls and other vertical surfaces. Place a plank (#1) directly over the top of the last full installed plank, making sure to line up all edges. Use another plank (#2) to measure the distance from the wall to the last installed plank, position the edge (#2) against the wall and mark the plank (#1) with a pencil where it meets the plank (#2) at the opposite edge from the wall. Place the marked plank on a cutting board and mark a new line with 1mm less. Score the new pencil line carefully with a sharp knife, then snap or cut the plank along the score mark. Rolling: Roll each row as completed. 100 pound (or 50 kg) roller should be used to ensure the underside plank surface is fully bonded to the adhesive and sub-floor. Check periodically for tightness by pushing the planks tight to each other and looking for visual gaps Roll the entire floor with the above roller immediately after installation. Adhesive can damage the floor s finish, especially when it has dried: If adhesive comes in contact with the face of the plank, remove immediately with the adhesive remover recommended by the adhesive manufacturer. Immediate applying with rubbing alcohol or alkali water can be also recommended. Page 3

Post Installation It is important that flooring products maintain proper temperature before, during, and after installation in order to minimize dimensional changes: The subfloor, all flooring material, and the adhesive must be conditioned at a constant temperature between 60 F (15 C) 68 F (20 C) for 48 hours after installation. Operating surface temperature must be less than 77 F (25 C) for water based acrylic adhesive. Keep the floor free from daily foot traffic for a minimum of 24 hours to allow acrylic adhesive to properly cure: In case of application of urethane/epoxy adhesive, it may require 48 hours as specified by adhesive manufacturer. Always refer to the specific instructions on the flooring adhesive label. Cover the installed floor with wax paper / parchment paper. Do not wash floor at least 72 hours after installation. Use a damp mop to remove spots and stains and soils. CAUTION: Floor will be slippery when wet. For difficult to clean spots or stains, use solution of mild detergent or cleaner sold to be used for luxury vinyl tiles (LVT) flooring, or rubbing alcohol may be also recommended: o Do not use acetone i.e., nail polish remover or other strong solvent. o Do not use chlorinated solvents. o Do not use wax or varnish coating/lacquer thinner. o Do not leave any amounts of liquids (water, juice, soft drinks, spills, etc.) on the floor. Prompt removal of spills and stains: Strong acids can damage the surface. Be careful that Acids with a low ph scale to come in contact with the surface. Protect your floor: When moving furniture or appliances, never slide or roll heavy furniture or appliances across the floor. Remove shoes with cleats, spikes or exceptionally pointy heels before walking on the floor. Place protective pads under heavy pieces of furniture and chairs. Do not use rubber backed rugs or mats. Adhesive; General Guidelines for Installation Water based acrylic adhesive designed for luxury vinyl flooring is recommended. Urethane/epoxy adhesives (low VOCs) can be used for the areas where acrylic adhesive may not be suitable to apply according to adhesive manufacture guidelines. Contact adhesive manufacturer for specific guidelines: Bond failure is NOT flooring product defect. Moisture is the single greatest cause of bonding failure. Ensure levels are at or below those accepted by adhesive manufacturer. Not following the adhesive manufacturer s recommendations (including adhesive storage temperature) can lead to installation failure or product damage and will void your warranty. Use safety glasses, rubber boots, and work gloves when applying adhesive. For first aid and safety instructions see labels on adhesive package, safety data sheets. Room must be well ventilated.
