Answer Key Card 1 12 strawberries Card 2 8 baseballs Card 3 10 pies Card 4 Sam placed 5 blue counters on the double ten frame when he should have placed 6. The answer should be 13 cars. Card 5 4 + 6 = 10/6 + 4 = 10, 3 + 5 = 8/5 + 3 = 8, 8 + 9 = 17/9 + 8 = 17, 2 + 9 = 11/9 + 2 = 11 Card 6 Answers will vary but may include making a 10 from the two 5s and adding the 4 to make a total of 14. Card 12 Count back 6 from 14 to get 8 bees left in the hive. Card 13 7 + 1 = 8, 12 = 8 + 4, 11 = 12-1 Card 14 5 + 4 = 9, 8-7 = 1, 13-6 = 7, 10 + 5 = 15 Card 15 5 + = 12 or 12-5 = ; Seven dogs joined the first group. Card 16 2, 4, 16, 6 Card 17 Jeff should have counted 79 after 78. He should have counted to 101 instead of 110. Jeff should have counted 119, 120 instead of 199, 200. Card 18 Observe students counting. Card 19 Card 20 Check students matches. Card 21 3 tens and 26 ones, 2 tens and 36 ones, 4 tens and 16 ones Card 22 4 tens or 40, 6 ones or 6, 9 tens or 90, 1 ten or 10 Card 23 The following should be circled: 29 > 31, 19 > 91, 20 < 12, 39 < 36. Card 24 30 > 29, 19 > 16, 12 < 21, 56 < 64, 20 > 15, 78 > 72 Card 25 Answers will vary but may include that you can count on or count back the amount of the second number. 10; 30; 27 Card 26 Answers will vary but may include that you can use ten frames and see that 25 apples would take up 2 ten frames and half of another. Card 27 26 candies; Card 28 93 rocks; Card 29 Answers will vary but may include that you can use a hundred chart to find the first number and move up one square.
