Technical Information TI 024 N/08/en/10.05 Inteligent Digital Transmitter TMD Series Digital transmitter for float type level gauge Introduction The TMD series is a 2-way 2-wire transmitter with built-in microprocessor, used in combination with field level gauges, e.g. LT series. It enables remote calibration of tanks. Information between the transmitter and receiver are selected from variety of input/output modules to meet various specifications. With the module card technology, module can be easily changed, added and combined according to particular requirement. Features Calibration and adjustment for transmission output can be done by HHT (handheld terminal) with a fiber optic cable after the installation of the transmitter (the HHT is also used for other TMD transmitters) TMD series is a compact design and weighs only 10 kgf. Temperature signals are also available with 4~20 ma) Operation Principle The amount of wire and tape movement of the mechanical level gauge corresponds to liquid level in tanks. The movement is transmitted to measuring drum, which turns the coupling of the level gauge, and is further transmitted to the transmitter. In the transmitter, the level changes transmitted via the TMD TRANSMITTER coupling, gear unit and timing band to the level encode are converted to digital level values. The level values are computed and diagnosed by microprocessor. It processes output alarms and controls temperature element at the same time accordingly. The temperature data are also output with digital or analogue signals.
