Boho Embroidery Hoop Art Class Saturday, January 28th Nichole Vogelsinger Join Nichole Vogelsinger, author of Boho Embroidery for an embroidery hoop art workshop where you will learn a variety of embroidery stitches that work well with embellished hoop art. You will either embellish a fabric of your choice in a hoop or you will learn how to mix and layer fabrics to create a piece of art completely unique to you! This class is suitable for both the beginning embroiderer and those already familiar with embroidery. Page 4 Quilts for Kids On the first Tuesday of each month a group of charity-minded quilters meets at PQW to sew together for the organization, Quilts for Kids. Quilts are given to children who are ill, abused, or in difficult situations who could use the comfort of a quilt made for them. Experienced quilters only, please. With the use of templates, you will cut out all the pieces you need to finish your unique piece of furniture. The remainder of our time is spent learning how to sew 1/4 of your tuffet cover together. This will give you the confidence to go home and sew the remaining 3 sections. In the second class, we get out the power tools and you put it all together. Let s say that a class you're interested in requires rotary skills, and you re still snipping along with scissors. Well a 1-hour private class will bring you up to speed. Or say that you really want to get the hang of paper-piecing or some other skill. Or maybe our classes just don t fit in your schedule. Talk to any one of us and we ll find you the right person at the right time to teach you what you need to know. $25 per hour per person. Policy for class registration You must pay for a class in full in order to receive the class supplies list and to reserve your place. You may register by phone, on line, or in the store. If you need to cancel, please do so at least 10 days prior to the first class in order to receive a full refund. If an emergency arises and you cancel less than 10 days before the first class, but at least one day before, a class certificate will be issued. Please use this for emergencies only as late cancellations can be problems for us. All books and patterns and some special tools required for a class can be purchased at a 20% discount after paid registration. New Class One Block Wonder The One-Block Wonder is a one of a kind quilt composed of hexagonal kaleidoscope blocks created from a single fabric. The technique creates an art quilt full of swirling movement. For an optional border, you can also use the same fabric. In this class you will learn to how prepare and cut your fabric. For machines with embroidery units. More Embroidery Techniques Learn to do embroidered appliqué (our favorite!) while you dig deeper into your machine s embroidery features and perfect your skills. My Bernina 7 and 8 Series The Newest 7and 8 Series machines have their own unique features and we ll tailor your sessions to them. MACHINE CLUBS AT PQW All About Embroidery Club A monthly club that focuses on machine embroidery. Each month we will watch a video presented by Kay Hickman of Bernina of America. You will receive a CD that includes a PowerPoint of the video, a tips and tricks handout and a featured embroidery design. We will have machines set up for you to try the featured technique. Open to all, but if you are a Bernina user please bring an oval hoop and its grid.
