CATCHER AREA DEVELOPMENT Midwater Arch A mid-water arch (MWA) that is typically installed 70-100 m from the seabed provides riser support. Connecting the risers to the MWA largely eliminates the dynamic forces that would otherwise cause friction and fatigue.
CASE STUDY About Project: Catcher Area Development Operator: Premier Oil Location: North Sea, UK Request Lead time for the project was 12 week. Bespoke design to minimize weight and size. Low cost project.
CATCHER AREA DEVELOPMENT About Project: Catcher Area Development Operator: Premier Oil Location: North Sea, UK Challenge Valve type 2 Ball valves + pressure cap as 3rd barrier Bore size 2inch and 3inch Qualification PR2 Design lifetime 30 years Gas testing Nitrogen, 3.5bar Operation torque Max 75Nm Media Nitrogen, water Lead time 12 weeks Reduce size and reduce cost!
CATCHER AREA DEVELOPMENT About Project: Catcher Area Development Operator: Premier Oil Location: North Sea, UK Challenge Valve type 2 Ball valves + pressure cap as 3rd barrier Bore size 2inch and 3inch Qualification PR2 Design lifetime 30 years Gas testing Nitrogen, 3.5bar Operation torque Max 75Nm Media Nitrogen, water Lead time 12 weeks Reduce size and reduce cost!
CATCHER AREA DEVELOPMENT Solution We suggested a DB valve to reduce footprint and to reduce cost We suggested a PR1 qualified Soft seated valve instead of the requested PR2 qualified M2M valves. We suggested a pressure balanced stab insted of the standard Pressure cap. Due to the extrem low differential pressure of 3,5 bar we had to redesign the seats, seatholders and seals around the seat holders. In the end the qustomer wanted double looking mechanisms on the Pressure cap.
CATCHER AREA DEVELOPMENT The Delivery 12 DB 2inch and 12 DB 3 inch instead of 48 single valves 24 pressure ballanced stabs Reduced the cost with over 60% from the initial request. On time delivery in 12 weeks Specification Valve type 3 barrier, 2 ball valve + pressure cap Bore size 2 or 3inch Qualification PR1 Design lifetime 30 years Gas testing Nitrogen, 3.5bar. Operation torque Max 75Nm Media Nitrogen, water
AASTA HANSTEEN AASTA HANSTEEN The Aasta Hansteen field discovered in 1997 is located in the Norwegian Sea, 300 kilometres west of Bodø. Revised production start-up is planned for late 2018. The field will be developed using a SPAR platform comprising a floating topside with a vertical column moored to the seabed.
AASTA HANSTEEN About Project: Aasta Hansteen Operator: Statoil Location: North Sea, Norway Challenge Valve type 2 Ball valves as barrier + pressure cap Bore size 2inch Qualification PR1 Design lifetime 5 years Testing PSL 3 Special Smal footprint Operation Dual stem and 2-way receptacle Lead time 12 weeks
AASTA HANSTEEN Solution We suggested a DB valve to reduce footprint and to reduce cost We designed a compact body with dual stem interface. Designed new 2-way receptacle for pressure balanced stab. Due to the tight space the receptacle and the valve was to be in 100% alliment to the housing.
AASTA HANSTEEN The Delivery 4 DB 2inch valves 2 pressure ballanced stab We managed to deliver a compact design that fit the system. On time delivery in 12 weeks Specification Valve type 2 Ball valves as barrier + pressure cap Bore size 2inch Qualification PR1 Design lifetime 5 years Testing PSL 3
