How to order Placing an order Studio samples Showcase your work to your clients with a beautiful studio sample. A 40% studio sample discount is available for the following products: Bambino Vogue Flushmount Suites Art Mount Boxes Please contact our friendly staff for more information. Placing an order We have an easy-to-use ordering process with guided questions to design fully customised products just as you like them. Find links to each product s order form at www.bpro.com.au/orders or by emailing albums@brilliantprints.com.au. Album layouts, covers, fine art images and images for framing can be sent via a file transfer service such as Dropbox. Please send your files through to albums@brilliantprints.com.au and include your contact and order details. Printing service When designing your album, it s important to use either an AdobeRGB or srgb colour space in order to ensure your images are correctly represented in their printed form. All layouts should be designed at a 300ppi (pixels per inch) resolution, with your canvas at the exact dimensions of your desired album size. No bleed is required. Flushmount albums can be designed as either full spreads or as individual sides, but the Vogue, Bambino and Espresso albums require full spreads only. Print trim areas Please avoid text or crucial image or layout elements within 2mm of the edge of layouts, as up to 2mm of each layout may be cropped for trimming. For best results, keep bordered images and text 10mm from the page edge. Printing & profiling Screen calibration Go to a shop selling televisions. You will see that although they are all showing the same picture, the colours look slightly different. One TV might be a little brighter or have a little more blue in the image. This is a problem because when you send us a file and we bring it up on our screen, it might appear slightly bluer and brighter than your screen. The goal of screen calibration is to make sure that our screen and your screen show the same colours and same brightness. If we loaded the same image on both screens and put them next to each other then they should look the same. Your screen allows you to adjust the brightness, contrast and amount of red, green and blue that are shown in images. The goal is to adjust your screen to an international standard that has been created for all printed labs and photographers. Everyone who has calibrated their screen to this standard will see an image in the same way. To do this, you will need to purchase a device such as a Spyder or X-Rite i1. They are supplied with software to help you through the process. The wizard will ask you to connect the Spyder or X-Rite i1 device. It will then measure the colour of your screen and make the necessary adjustments for you. Once the process is finished, images on your screen will look almost identical to ours. Calibration & Colour Management Using printer profiles Now that our screens match you need to be able to see how your images will print when they are sent to our printers. Even state of the art printers cannot print every colour that you can see on your screen. This is because the printer has to mix a limited set of ink colours to try to replicate every colour visible on your screen. Printer profiles allow you to see which colours cannot be printed, and more importantly, what will happen to these colours when they are printed. For example, if the specific printer cannot print Coca Cola Red accurately then it will print the closest colour possible. Printer profiles adjust the image on your screen so you can see what will happen to the image when it is printed. We will happily email our printer profile to you. This profile is specific to Brilliant Prints. Other labs should be able to provide you with their profiles. The profile is just a file that you download and install on your computer. You can then use Photoshop to soft proof your image and see if there are any colours that can t be accurately reproduced. 1. Open your image in Photoshop 2. Click the View menu. Select Proof setup. Select Custom. 3. Select the profile we emailed to you. 4. Untick all other boxes and set Intent to Perceptual. 5. Click OK This will show how the image will look once it has been printed. Hold down the control button and press the Y key to turn the proof on or off. If the image does not change when you soft proof using our profile, then it means that our printer can achieve all the colours in your image. Available on all cover materials. Embossing Create a personalised or unique cover by embossing text or a pattern on selected materials. Available on Genuine Leather, Leather Look, Coated and Uncoated Cloth. Photo Device Have a clean edge or torn edge print inlaid into your cover. Our standard Photo Device sizes are 90 x 90mm, 56 x 56mm and 48 x 68mm. Available on all cover materials. Galleria Cut out windows in your cover offer the opportunity to present a sneak preview of your work as a teaser. Available on all cover materials. Stepped Edge Add a 5mm stepped border around the outside edge, providing a traditional finish. Available on Flushmount only, in Genuine Leather, Leather Look, Coated and Uncoated Cloth. Foil For a sleek and subtle finish, you can choose to foil text or patterns in gold, silver, white, black and clear which are our standard colours. Available on Genuine Leather, Leather Look, Coated and Uncoated Cloth, and Kraft. Acrylic Device Similar to our Photo Device, an Acrylic Device is a small acrylic print inlaid into your album cover. Available on all cover materials. Acrylic Strip A vertical Acrylic Strip down the right-hand side of a cover can be personalised by incorporating images behind the cover to give a standard cover a more dramatic finish. nformation Design Usually produced 5 business days from receipt of files. Spend less time behind a computer screen. The design process We believe most photographers want to spend more time behind their camera lens, and less time in front of a computer. Let us help by designing unique and customised albums for you. Images can be provided via Dropbox or any other file transfer service. We recommend placing your images in just two folders: Favourites and Maybes. The images in the Favourites folder will all be used and will often be featured throughout the album. The images in the Maybes folder will be used as fillers throughout the design and will support the featured images, but will only be used if it benefits the design. Once we have drafted your design, we will email you a private link to your album via AlbumExposure. You can sign up for a free account with AlbumExposure and change your colour scheme and logo so your clients see your branding as they view their album. You can share the design with your clients or keep it to yourself. Comments can be made on pages about changes you would like to make which will come back to our designers. You will be notified of the revised draft when it is available, where you can either make further alterations or approve your album for production. How many images do I send? A typical 15 spread/layout album will have approximately 60-75 images (average of 4-5 images per spread/layout). Our Bambino albums are designed at a very special price of just $33, and these contain an average of a single image per page (20 images). How long does a design take? The design process will take up to 5 working days once order has been processed. If you require a faster turnaround, please mention this as you place your order. What if I want to change the draft design? AlbumExposure will enable you or your client to make change requests based on each layout and then submit those changes to be actioned.
