Photonics Industries DS Series of UV (351/355 nm) diode pumped solid-state Q-switched lasers offer a compact, hands-free system with the long-term reliability that the manufacturing industry demands. Utilizing our patented harmonic generation technologies, the DS Series has been designed to provide a high power, high quality laser, with the diversity to meet the most demanding requirements. This series of lasers are available with a choice of Nd:YAG, Nd:YLF, and Nd:YVO platforms. This variety allows our customers to have the ability to select a laser that best fits their application. Based on the inherent properties of the laser crystals, the DS Series provides a large range of pulse energies, pulse repetition rates, and pulse widths. System Reliability Photonics Industries is committed to providing a highly reliable laser to our customers. The laser resonator, which is assembled in a Class 1 clean room environment, is hermetically sealed in order to prevent dust and condensation from damaging the laser crystals and optics. The patented intracavity harmonic generation results in a large beam diameter on the harmonic crystal, which significantly increases the crystal lifetime, compared to external harmonic generation. This technique also minimizes the amount of optical components needed to generate the UV wavelength. High Performance By utilizing our end pump design, along with the patented intracavity harmonic generation technologies, our DS Series delivers superior TEM beam mode quality with M < 1.1. Typical output performance includes Pulse-to-Pulse Instability measured to be less than 1% rms. Output quality of this magnitude improves process quality, control, and product yields.
Low Cost of Ownership Our DS Laser Series was designed to meet all of the laser user s needs. The concept is to offer a laser system that will provide a cost effective solution, and go beyond the ability to achieve high power and excellent beam quality. This is exactly what has been accomplished with the DS Laser Series. Power (Watts) 5 3 1 DS1H-355 Average Pow er @ khz The laser diode is mounted in the laser head, 6 8 1 1 Time (Hours) but outside the sealed resonator. This eliminates the fiber connection between the laser head and the controller so that they can be separated for shipment, or relocation without worry of fiber damage. The diode output is coupled to the resonator by a fiber optic cable. Since the diode package is located outside the sealed resonator, it is easily accessible for replacement by the end user without any laser alignment. The result is an adjustment-free, reliable, long lifetime operation. As a result of our patented intracavity harmonic generation, our UV lasers use approximately one-half of the amount of pump diodes to produce the UV output power levels of external harmonic generating lasers. This minimizes the costs to replace the diodes when their lifetime is exceeded. Also, the UV intensity on the nonlinear crystal is about one-tenth as much as that of external harmonic generation. Therefore, our third harmonic crystal is nonconsumable, so there is no need to index the third harmonic crystal. DS Series Controller Our DS Series Lasers utilize one common controller unit, independent of laser model. The DS Controller is a single, compact, 19 Rack Mount unit designed for ease of integration. There is a single industrial-grade connector that supplies all of the electrical wiring from the controller to the laser head. The robust connector can be easily disconnected when necessary. Since the laser diodes are located in the laser head, none of the optical fibers can be easily damaged. The DS Controller incorporates complete, user-friendly, front panel operation, as well as external control via RS-3 interface. The DS Controller also offers external TTL control via BNC, including pulse triggering and pulse train gating. DS Controller software, included with each system, provides basic system operating controls in a convenient graphical user interface configuration.
