DKS2667:2016 Foreword This Kenya Standard was prepared by the Technical Committee on Woven Fabrics under the direction of the Textile Industry Standards Committee and the National Standards Council. Table cloth isa cloth for covering the top of a table, especially during mealswhile table napkins isa small piece ofcloththat is used to wipe the mouth and to cover the lap during meals times. This standard only specifies minimum requirements for their performance. In the development of this standard, the Technical Committee was guided mainly by data collected from the local textile industries and expertise from the textile industry. KENYA STANDARD DKS 2667:2016 Woven Table cloth and Napery Specification 1 scope This Kenya Standard specifies requirements for table cloths and table napkins made from any textile fibre or mixtures of fibres, machine made or handmade used in household and institutional. 2 Normative references The following referenced documents are indispensable in the application of this standard: KS ISO 13934-1 Tensile properties of fabrics -- Part 1: Determination of maximum force and elongation at maximum force using the strip method KS ISO 105-D02-Tests for colour fastness -- Part D02: Colour fastness to rubbing KS ISO 6330-Domestic washing and drying procedures for textile testing KS ISO 105-C10-Colour fastness to washing with soap or soap and soda KS ISO 105-B02-Colour fastness to artificial light: Xenon arc fading lamp test 3 Definitions For the purpose of this Kenya Standard, the following definitions shall apply 3.1 Table cloth- a large piece of cloth that covers a table during a meal and protects or decorates it 3.2 Table napkins-a square piece of cloth used at a meal to wipe the fingers or lips and to protect garment Note: overlays are also termed as table cloths 4 Requirements 4.1 Fabric Fibre Compositions the fabric fibre composition and proportion shall be as declared subject to a tolerance of 5 per cent. This shall be tested in accordance with KS ISO 1833 4.2 Fabric Properties the fabric properties for table cloth and table napkins only shall be as specified in Table 1. 4.3 Colour Fastness the colour fastness of the fabrics shall be as specified in Table 2. 4.4 Dimensions 4.4.1 Width of Fabric the width of each piece under test shall not be less than the value declared or marked. The variation of the width at any place shall be determined in accordance with KS 08-834: Part 1 from the mean value tested shall not be more than one per cent below or two per cent above. 4.4.2 Length of Fabric the length of each piece under test shall not be less than the value declared or marked. This shall be determined in accordance with KS 08-834: Part 2t the variation of the length at any place from the mean value tested shall not be more than one per cent below or two per cent above.
