Please read BOTH these and the General Towing Instructions before attempting to install or operate this equipment. 1. Blue Ox towing products and accessories are intended to be installed by Blue Ox Dealers who are familiar with our products and have the equipment and knowledge to do fit work. When necessary Blue Ox Dealers can be found at www.blueox.us or by contacting our Customer Care Department at (402) 385-3051. 2. Many Blue Ox Baseplates are designed to use existing holes and hardware to mount the baseplate to the towed vehicle. Even though bolts are there, do not assume they are adequate for baseplate mounting. Always use hardware supplied in the hardware kit or existing hardware specified in the Baseplate Towing. Attachment Tabs: Due to the design of the removable tabs, the RangeFinder II tow bar can not be used. Adapters, except for the BX8833 and BX88151, can not be used with this baseplate. BX2240 Instructions: The front fascia, metal bumper, headlight assemblies and the windshield washer reservoir are removed for the baseplate installation. Drilling is required. Some vehicles fascias may need trimming. The dimensional variations between otherwise identical vehicles can be considerable. While the baseplate was designed for easy installation, it may be necessary to tailor the baseplate slightly to compensate for auto manufacture s tolerances. These minor adjustments may include filing a hole slightly, bending electrical rods, and/ or bending endplates. 2. Using the 10MM Socket, remove two metric bolts on fascia, just forward of the front tire (see white arrows). Remove one push pin (see grey arrow) and set all aide to be re-installed later. This is done to both sides of the vehicle the driver s side is shown. 2 The BX8847 Diode Wiring Kit is recommended for this vehicle. 3. Remove the four push pins from the front center of the fascia. 3 1. Remove two Phillips push pins from upper, outside edge of the black plastic radiator cover (see grey arrow). Remove regular push pins from radiator (see white arrows) and set cover aside. The driver s side is shown in the photo. 1 Page 3 of 8 292-2763 11/26/08
4. On the edge of the fascia, inside the wheel well, there is one Phillips screw to remove. Set these aside to be re-installed later. This is done on both sides of the vehicle, the driver s side is shown. After this is done, you will be able to pull the fascia forward and carefully set it aside. 4 6 6. Using a 10MM Socket, remove two bolts from just inside the headlight housing. Set these bolts aside to be re-installed later. This is done on both sides of the vehicle, the driver s side is shown. 5. Remove the metric bolt on the side of the fascia near the headlight assembly using a 10MM Socket. Set bolts aside to be re-installed later. This is done on both sides of the vehicle, the driver s side is shown. 5 7. Using a 10MM Socket, remove two metric bolts from the top of the headlight assembly. Set bolts aside to be re-installed later. This is done on both sides of the vehicle, the driver s side is shown. Pull the headlight assembly forward and carefully set aside. 7 Page 4 of 8 292-2763 11/26/08

10 10. On the bottom side of the metal bumper, unplug and release the clip holding the temperature sensor to the metal bumper. When this has been disengaged you are able to pull the metal bumper forward and carefully set the metal bumper aside. 12 12. Measure 1/4 down from the frame rail and clamp baseplate in place using vice grips. The endplate should be flush with the frame rail (See Photo in Step 13). 11 11. Remove the windshield washer fluid reservoir by removing two metric bolts using a 10MM Socket. Disconnect and plug all hoses. Set the windshield washer fluid reservoir aside to be re-installed later. 13 13. Using the baseplate as a template, drill the four holes in the side of the frame rail with the 13/32 Drill Bit. BE SURE TO USE LOCTITE RED ON ALL BOLTS BEFORE TIGHTENING. TIGHTEN ALL BOLTS ACCORDING TO THE TORQUE CHART ON THE FRONT PAGE OF THESE INSTRUCTIONS OR ON PAGE 3 OF THE BASEPLATE TOWING GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS. 15 15. Re-install the metal bumper according to Steps 8-10. Be sure to plug the temperature sensor back in and clip it to the frame rail. 14-A 16 14-B 14. Insert the two 3/8-16 nut plates into the frame rail to align with the top two drilled holes on the baseplate and install the 3/8-16 x 1 1/4 hex bolts and 3/8 lock washers (See White Arrows in Photo 14-A). Install the 3/8-16 x 1 1/4 hex bolt, 3/8 lock washer and 3/-16 hex nut into the center hole. Insert the shorter 3/8-16 x 1 hex bolt, 3/8 lock washer and 3/8-16 hex nut into the lower hole to avoid the air bag sensor (See Grey arrow in Photo 14-A). Tighten all bolts and nut plates. After tightening, cut off the wire on the nut plate (See Photo 14-B). 16. Re-install the windshield washer reservoir by replacing the two metric bolts and tightening with the 10MM Socket. You will then need to mark and trim the windshield washer reservoir so that it does NOT overlap the baseplate. Be sure that ALL electrical connections are plugged in properly and functioning BEFORE Installing the fascia. Page 7 of 8 292-2763 11/26/08
