Punch! Pro Dream House Project After completing the tutorial and scale drawing exercises the students will design their dream home using Professional Home Design program, Punch! Home Design. Using Professional Home Design, students can easily design home plans, and create 3D scaled models of your designs as a perfect presentation piece. Floor Plan Model Samples Refer to the Web site links below for selection of floor plans. Choose a floor plan and print. Sketch floor plan on graph paper before designing on Punch! Home Design. Design a model home floor plan that includes: The floor plan will need to have a square footage between 2000 2500 Single-story floor plan Calculate the square footage and type it at the bottom of the floor plan Include the following living areas: Living Room, Family/Great Room, Dining Room, Kitchen, Laundry Room Include doors where appropriate Include a window(s) in each room The floor plan will have a minimum of 3 bedrooms to include closets A master bathroom, bathroom and guest bath [2½ Bath] Include an attached 2 car garage In each room type its name and room dimensions Punch! Pro Dream House Project Getting Ready: 1. Go to Start, Programs, Punch! Home Design to launch the program. 2. Go to File: Save As. Open your H:drive and save it as: DH Phase 1 with your first initial and last name [DH Phase 1 KHall] in your Architectural Design folder. 3. It is easier to create a drawing using a grid, so you will first turn on the program grid. This will make your screen look like a piece of graph paper. Click on Options on the menu bar and click on Grid Visible. Click on OK. 4. Now we will set the scale for our grid. Click on Design on the menu bar, Plan Scale, set to ¼ in = 1 ft
Save your work constantly! Phase 1: Room Wizard Use the New! Feature of Room Wizard to layout your floor plan. After selecting the Floor Plan you wish to build, select the Room Wizard tool from the Power Tool toolbar. This will open a new window. Located at the top of the window are the various rooms you will use to layout your floor plan. Click on the room and take it to the drawing area and place. Resize room using the dimensions area on the right hand side. Please remember to ENTER, after each dimension. Continue working in this phase until all rooms are in place. You may need to adjust rooms if walls disappear in the blue print view. 1. Click the corresponding button for the room type that you want to create. The Room Properties bar appears on the right-hand side of the Room Wizard. 2. Click the radio button next to auto-sizing on the Room Properties bar. 3. In the Width text box, enter the width of the room in feet and inches and press ENTER. 4. In the Height text box, enter the length of the room in feet and inches an press ENTER. 5. Click in the drawing area to place your room. Phase 2: Blue Print Step 1: Create Foundations & Exterior Walls Follow the directions below, and refer to the diagram as needed; you may want to use the New! Feature of Room Wizard to layout your floor plan. Please remember, if you go back to the Room Wizard PowerTool, it will erase any changes made to your blueprint. Redraw Exterior Wall segments in the Blue Print Phase. This will eliminate excessive piecing when building 3D Model Project. Look for wall segments that are in line with one another. If there are multiple wall segments, delete and redraw using the Exterior Wall tool. Click on the Floor Tab, and then click on the Exterior Wall icon. Step 2: Draw Interior Walls Repeat the same procedure with the Interior Walls. Click on the Floor Tab, and then click on the Interior Wall icon. Look for wall segments that are in line with one another. If there are multiple wall segments, delete and redraw using the Interior Wall tool. This will also add strength to your house when constructing your 3D Model project
Step 3: Add the Roof Refer to Student Tutorials or Punch! Pro User's Guide Manual for instructions on adding a roof. You may again choose to use the New! Feature of Roofing Wizard. Punch! Roofing Wizard takes the guesswork out of creating hip roofs for simple or complex home designs. Simply proceed through the Roofing Wizard, and then use the manual roofing tools to tweak the design to your own specifications. Launch Roofing Wizard by clicking the Roofing Wizard icon on the PowerTool Bar. Step 4: Preview the House in Live View Refer to Student Tutorials for instructions on viewing the house in Live View. While you are in live view you can add texture to the outside walls and paint the interior walls. Tile or carpeting can be added to the interior rooms. Step 5: Email to Teacher Upon completion of Dream House project send as an attachment in your student email.
DREAM HOUSE PROJECT [Student Syllabus] Phases 1 & 2 The first two phases of this assignment is as follows: 1. Select 3 Floor Plans from the provided websites and save into your Architectural Design Project folder in your student H: drive. Be sure to refer to the requirement specifications for building this project. Requirements: 1. Single Level Floor Plan 2. Square Footage not to exceed 2500 Sq Ft. 3. Calculate the square footage and type it at the bottom of the floor plan 4. 1 larger master bedroom with closet and master bath 5. 2 smaller bedrooms with closets 6. 1½ bathrooms [1 full bath & 1 guest bath] 7. Kitchen with stove, oven, refrigerator, dish washer, sink, and appropriate counter space 8. Pantry closet off kitchen 9. Include the following living areas: Living Room, Family/Great Room, Dining Room 10. Laundry Room and additional storage closets 11. Include an attached 2 car garage 12. Must have an enclosed but accessible room for furnace and hot water heater (4 X 6 ) 13. Storage room 14. Include doors where appropriate 15. Include a window(s) in each room 16. Roof pitch must be from 6:12 to 10:12 17. In each room type its name and room dimensions Draw a floor plan of an actual home or a custom home yet to be built using the CAD software program. This home may be a modern, classic or future design Open a new Punch! Pro design window; SAVE AS DH Phase 1 KHall [your first initial and last name] in your Architectural Design project folder
Begin by scaling your selected Floor Plan using the Room Wizard in Punch! Pro; continue working in the Room Wizard until your Floor Plan layout is complete. Select File > Exit Power Tool > Yes. This will move you into the Blue Print design window view Note: Save frequently! You may need to save to the Desktop at the beginning of each class period. This will allow for you to save much more quickly. Before leaving class, be sure to move your most recent Save from the Desktop to your Student H: drive Preparation of drawings shall include room labels and size In the Blue Print design window, check for doubled walls. Make all adjustments to walls; add doors, windows, and Kitchen and Bathroom fixtures and appliances. You may need to redraw interior and exterior walls as one line. This will make your build easier. You will not however, be able to draw interior and exterior walls as one line. If you do this, it will break the properties of your foundation. Required drawings will include: floor plan, front exterior elevation plan Send Phase One only to teacher for evaluation and preparation for 3D Model Building Phase 3 This phase is to include your Interior and Exterior Design Phase 4 This phase includes your Landscape design front view only Additional Landscaping Project will be addressed in later unit
