Refer to PLAN VIEW and FOOTING LAYOUT to locate position of slide. Excavate footing as shown in FOOTING LAYOUT and FOOTING DETAIL. OBJECTIVE 1 Attach spiral slide trapezoid deck to vertical posts. NOTE: If trapezoid deck will install to a kick plate (decks are offset) please refer to the alternate method described on the next page. Hold trapezoid deck in place against main deck. Keep deck supported until slide is installed. Drill a 21/64 hole into one post toward top of slot in corner of deck. Select one screw hole gasket, one 3/8 x1-1/4 self tapping TORX screw and one 3/8 x7/8 flat washer. Insert gasket into hole in vertical post. NOTE: The grommet will hold the gasket in place until the deck screws are installed. Secure deck to vertical post by inserting screw through washer, slot in deck, gasket and into pre-drilled hole in post (see Detail A). Then level deck and mark/drill remaining hole. Secure other corner of deck following the same procedure described above, making sure deck remains level. Select two 1/4 x1 self tapping screws. Verify that deck is level and adjust if necessary. Anchor corner of deck to vertical post by installing two self tapping screws in bottom two holes of deck (see Detail A). Gently tighten until both screws are installed, then tighten all. Repeat for other side of deck. OBJECTIVE 1A (Alternate Method) Attach spiral slide trapezoid deck to kick plate. This method is used when the standard deck-to-deck mounting method is not applicable (decks are offset). Each set of hardware consists of one 3/8 x1 button head bolt, two 3/8 flat washers and one 3/8 nylon lock nut. Kick plates used on a 36 grid use a total of eight sets of hardware. Kick plates used on a 48 grid or on a diagonal deck use a total of eight sets of hardware. Insert bolt through washer, kick plate, deck, washer and gently tighten into nut until all sets have been installed (see Detail B1). Then tighten all. OBJECTIVE 2 Install slide. Select 5 x35 post with swaged end and five 3/8 x1-1/4 self-tapping TORX screws. Lay slide on its side. Remove shipping brace from slide. Remove set screws in slide base to allow center post to slide freely. Using handle inside of post, remove center post from slide, flip over and insert swaged post fully into the end of the slide post. NOTE: Swaged post will not fit into end of slide post with handle. When posts have been joined, drill a 21/64 pilot hole through both posts approximately 3/4 from end of outer post. Secure with self tapping screw. Re-insert post assembly into slide with swaged post at the bottom of the slide. Make sure slide base is tight against bottom of slide. Slide post into slide until screw head hits bottom of base. See Detail C. Detail C Spiral Slide Remove set screws, drill holes and replace with 3/8 x1-1/4 self tapping TORX screws (2 addt l. set screws located on back side) Installed in Step 6 Spiral Slide Base 3/8 x1-1/4 Self Tapping TORX Screw (installed approximately 3/4 from end of post from slide) Post from Slide (5 x96 ) 5 x35 Post with Swaged End Excavate footing as shown in FOOTING DETAIL and FOOTING ELEVATION. STEP 3 Set slide in place. Block and brace to correct height. Verify that slide is level and plumb. Do not pour concrete at this time. Page 4
STEP 4 Facing entrance of slide, LEFT slide of slide hood must overhang platform by 3/4. NOTE: Panel width is 3/4. Outside of panel and slide hood will be flush. See Detail D. STEP 5 Insert two 1/4 wafer bolts in outermost holes of platform - gently tighten. Verify spacing is correct. Insert two wafer bolts into remaining holes. Tighten all four wafer bolts. See Detail D. STEP 6 Level slide by adjusting center pipe in footing (will need to shim around pipe to keep it in place). When slide has been leveled, drill a 21/64 hole through one of the four holes in the base where the set screws were located. Drill through both posts. Install one 3/8 x1-1/4 self tapping screw (refer back to Detail C). Repeat for remaining three holes in slide base. NOTE: Do not pour concrete in footing until installation is complete. OBJECTIVE 3 Install panels INSTALLATION GUIDELINES Select four 3/8 x1-1/4 security TORX bolts, four 3/8 round weld nuts and four 3/8 x1-1/4 flat washers. Set one panel in place, making sure it is flush against slide. NOTE: Short side of panel faces slide. From outside of panel, insert bolt through washer, panel, deck and into weld nut - gently tighten until all four sets are installed (see Detail E). Then tighten all. Repeat for other panel. Detail E 3/8 x1-1/4 Security TORX Bolt 3/8 x1-1/4 Flat Washer 3/8 Round Weld Nut Select one bracket, three 3/8 x1 security TORX bolts, three 3/8 x1-1/4 flat washers and three 3/8 round weld nuts. Line up three holes in bracket with three holes on short side of panel. From outside of trapezoid deck, insert bolt through washer, panel, bracket and into weld nut (see Detail F). Edge of bracket should be flush with edge of panel. Gently tighten at this time. Repeat for other panel. STEP 3 Line up two holes in bracket with two factory-installed inserts in slide.
