Welcome to the All Ears English Podcast, where you ll finally get real, native English conversation. Now here are your hosts, Lindsay McMahon, the English Adventurer and Gabby Wallace, the Language Angel, coming to you from Boston, Massachusetts, USA. Do you feel confident meeting new people in English, in group situations? Well after this lesson, you will. Hey Lindsay. How s it going? Hey Gabby. Feeling all right. Awesome. So, (um), some of you guys have been asking about how to meet someone new, like if you re in a group, if you re at a party, if you re at someone s house, or in different situations, so we wanted to show you, (um), kind of a role play, but it s real. We re here at my apartment, and

(um), Lindsay is going to meet (uh), my roommate and her boyfriend for the first time. Are you ready? I m ready. I m excited. I like to meet new people, so I m here. Awesome. All right. So Lindsay, I d like to introduce you to my roommate Morgan. Hi. Nice to meet you. Hey Morgan. Great to meet you. How are you? Good. Great. And this is her boyfriend Jay. Hi. I m Jay. Nice to meet you. Hey Jay. What s up? How s it going? Good, good, good. How are you doing today? Good, so and so you guys are roommates? Gabby/ We ve lived together for what, (like) three months, four months? I think a little longer than that. A little longer? A little longer than that. Time flies when you re having fun, right? Time flies. How do you guys like the neighborhood? I think it s really nice. It s a really nice area. It s very safe. Excellent. Excellent.

I like it too. Great. So what do you do? I work at a hospital. Oh wow, okay. How d you get into that kind of work? I d, I ve actually been doing this kind of work, (um), for a number of years now. I, I majored in something like this from college too, so, so it s pretty relevant. Awesome. (Um) I like what I do. (Um) yeah, it s a, it s four years and counting. (Um) Excellent. so we ll see, we ll see where it takes me. Yeah, absolutely. Do you work in the ER (emergency room) or something crazy like that? No, I work in the laboratory. In the lab, okay, so research? Yeah yeah, more or less. Excellent. How bout (about) you? What do you do? (Um), I m an Occupational Therapist or an OT. Basically I work with little kids that are -- either have develop -- developmental delays or disabilities. Awesome, awesome. Sounds like great work. So (um) Jay and Morgan are both really good cooks. Oh!

So it s (uh), it s nice, (you know), being around them and learning new recipes and things. We well actually, you guys were just around the other day when I was making some chocolate too. So we That s right. Oh, that sounds great. we trade (uh) recipes and things. It s pretty fun. Awesome. I wanna (want to) learn how to make chocolate. I really like the almond kind. The ginger kind was a little bit, a little too spicy for me, but (Aw) it sounds so good. the almond was really good. I was trying different flavors. Excellent. We ll have to do it again sometime. That s cool. We should all hang out sometime if you guys Absolutely. Absolutely. want to get a drink or something. Definitely. That d be fun. Absolutely.
