Notification The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages invites entries for the 49th Annual State Art Exhibition during the current financial year. Entry to the exhibition shall be open to all the artists who are State Subjects or are settled in the State (a) as employees of the Govt.or a firm or the like or (b) are engaged in business, trade or the like. The following Awards will be given for the exhibits adjudicated as best by a panel of experts appointed for the purpose. i) Two equal awards of Rs.51, 000/- (Rupees fifty one thousands) in artist category in Paintings/Drawings/Graphics /Sculptures: ii) Two equal Academy Awards of Rs.10, 000/= (Rupees ten thousand only) in students category in paintings/ Drawings/ Graphics /Sculptures. TERMS AND CONDITIONS 1. Each Exhibitor shall be required to submit a certificate to the effect that the work submitted is neither a copy nor any imitation of some other work of art. In case the exhibit is found copy or an imitation of some other work of art, the artist will be liable for disqualification for further exhibitions to be held by the Academy. 2. Any exhibit already displayed in any exhibition in the State or in any part of the country will not be accepted.. 3. More than two exhibits shall not be accepted from any exhibitor. 4. Exhibits must be suitably framed, given pedestals and fixed with rings/hooks to avoid any risk of damage. 5. Labels as per specimen (Appendix-I) must be filled in with details and signed by the exhibitor. 6. Sculpture/should be of durable and strong material to avoid risk of damage. 7. The student exhibitors shall have to furnish the certificate in respect of their exhibits duly signed by the teacher concerned on the specimen given in the appendix-ii. 8. All the exhibits shall have two labels, one to be affixed on the back of the exhibit and the other held by string. 9. Every exhibit submitted for the exhibition and accepted by the selection/judging Committee for display will automatically be kept for competition, unless statement to the contrary is made by the concerned exhibitor in advance. 10. The exhibitors shall have to furnish one passport size colour photograph along with Biodata in addition to the color photograph of the works in 5x7 sizes submitted for the exhibition. 11. No exhibitor will be eligible for more than one prize. 12. The size of the painting should not exceed to 3x4 ft. 13. All the exhibits will be submitted to Selection/Judging Committee and the Committee will be the authority to accept or reject any exhibit without assigning any reason thereof. The said Committee may with hold, at its discretion, any of the Awards specified above if it does not find the exhibit/s compatible to the required standard. 14. The recommendations of the Selection/Judging Committee with regard to Award of Prizes shall be finally approved by the President of the Academy and thereafter made public.
15. The Academy may at its discretion acquire some selected works of art from the Exhibition. 16. Academy reserves the right to reproduce prints of any exhibit accepted for exhibition in its journals, publications etc. Copyright of the art work that may be acquired by the Academy from exhibition shall vest with the Academy. 17. While the Academy shall make every endeavor to take every possible care for the safety of the exhibits submitted for the exhibition, it will, however, not be held responsible for any loss or damage caused to the exhibits owing to the circumstances beyond it control. The exhibitors are, therefore, advised to take proper insurance coverage for the protection of their exhibits. 18. Exhibits should be delivered to the Academy offices at Srinagar. Kala Kendra Jammu and Leh during office hours on any working day on or before 31st July, 2013. 19. The exhibitors shall take away their exhibits within ten days after receiving intimation from the Academy to that effect, failing which the Academy shall not be responsible for any loss or damage to the works thereafter. In case the exhibits are not lifted by the exhibitors within one month from the date of intimation from the Academy, these shall be proclaimed as unclaimed. 20. Unclaimed exhibits, if any, shall be disposed off by the Academy and exhibitors shall not claim any compensation thereafter. 21. The Academy shall not be responsible for taking delivery of parcels containing exhibits or for payment of demurrage because of non receipt of G.R./Paid receipt. 22. The submission of exhibits shall be deemed to imply acceptance of all the rules and regulations set hereinabove. 23. The Artist who receives any award in a particular category will be eligible for such Award after 03 years. 24. If any question arises relating to the interpretation of these rules, the matter will be referred to the President of the Academy whose decision thereon shall be final, conclusive and binding on the parties.
