FOLDING DOOR INSTRUCTIONS Please read these instructions carefully and follow them step by step to insure a smooth installation. Most importantly DO NOT open hardware boxes and mix hardware up. Hardware boxes are numbered to match panel installation one by one. Mixing hardware will cause an improper install and doors will not operate properly. FRAMING/JAMB STEP 1: Remove packaging from the 4 piece frame system. Remove upper aluminum track from frame. Place each piece with the label INSIDE facing up. Line up the pre drilled screw holes and connect jamb with 3 screws included in the kit labeled Frame. STEP 2: Stand framing up and place it into the rough opening we recommended for installation. Begin installation with a ROTATING LAZER LEVEL to determine your high side and your low side.
(WARNING!!! DO NOT USE A STANDARD LEVEL TO DETERMINE THIS. SYSTEM MUST BE WITHIN 3MM FROM LEFT TO RIGHT HORIZONALLY AND VERTICALLY) STEP 3: Begin leveling the jamb using a 4 screw (included labeled HEADER ) on the low side of the frames pre drilled header raising the framing slowly. Using the laser and a tape measure, insure that you are as close to perfect as you can get on the left and the right of the frame. (Remember 3mm is the tolerance from left to right) Page 3 in the detailed instructions will show tolerance allowed which goes for any length system. STEP 4: Once you are level you can begin shimming the rest of the upper frame header, lower tracking and vertical jamb legs. Be sure to continually check your vertical spacing from the bottom of the frame header to the top of the lower tracking. (Example if you have 85 between these two points on the right side of the frame, you should have 85 in the center as well as the left side of the frame). STEP 5: Double check all above to insure the frame is installed as plumb and level as possible. Once confirmed, reinstall the upper tracking using flat #10 screws or lag bolts (Labeled Track ) and beginning with the side that is marked PIVOT END on both frame and track. Leave small piece of track out. Install
the Pyle weather strip brush into the upper track as shown on page 3 before proceeding to door and hardware installation. HARDWARE & DOOR INSTALLATION Step 1: In your box of hardware locate the pivot hardware box labeled PIVOT END and insert the upper pivot into the upper track sliding it to the end of the track. If the hinge sits flush against the jamb it is in correctly. Use the two machine screws to tighten pivot to track. (DO NOT INSTALL PIVOT COVER WITH SCREWS AS IT IS JUST A COVER AND WILL BE INSTALLED AFTER ADJUSTMENTS ARE COMPLETED). Once the upper pivot is installed, remove the bolts from the lower pivot block installed in the lower track and install lower pivot (both are shown on page 8, 9). Adjust both upper and lower pivots so that the hinge sits flush against jamb. Step 2: Locate your first panel you will be hanging labeled PIVOT END on one side and the number 2 on the other. (ATTENTION! SPLIT DOOR SYSTEMS EXAMPLE 2+3 WILL BE LABEL ON THE OUTSIDE OF PANEL). Align pivot end with pivot hinges and connect. If pivot hinge is to low see page () for adjustment instructions.
STEP 3: Locate the hardware box with the number 2 on the front. (Other than a two panel door system or split 2+2 panel system this box should read OFFSET HINGE SET ). Install hinges to your first panel on the side that is marked #2 with the handle hinge in the center of the panel. (Handle should rest against the flat surface/face of panel). Once installed, swing out and locate your second panel marked with a #2 and #3. Connect the side marked with the #2 to the hinges on your pivot panel as if they were in the folded position. (Example of this would be in comparison to older style folding closet doors). Step 4: Locate the hardware box with the number 3 on the front. Remove the upper wheels with hinge and insert them into the upper track. (ATTENTION! IF HINGE IS REVERSED, UPSIDE DOWN OR NOT LINING UP WITH PRE DRILLED HOLES ON PANEL ITS OK, ALL HARDWARE IS UNIVERSAL AND CAN BE TAKEN APART TO CONFIGURE TO PROPER DRILL PATERN). Once installed in the track connect the upper wheel hinge to the second panel on the side marked with the #3. After this is completed you can then and only then remove the lower guide hinge as well as the center hinge and install accordingly. (KEEP
NOTE THAT ADJUSTMENT TO UPPER WHEEL HANGER AND PIVOT MAY BE NEEDED IF SYSTEM IS TO LOW. DOORS BEING TO LOW MAY NOT ALLOW INSTALLATION OF LOWER TRACK GUIDE. ALL ADJUSTMENT INFORMATION IS LOCATED IN MAIN INSTRUCTIONS). STEP 5: Locate your third panel with the #3 and hang on the other side of the wheel hinge set. Once the panel is hung adjust all panels to spec. If adjusted properly you should have a ¼ inch gab between the upper track and the top of the panels all the way across and the Pyle brush touching the panels. IF YOU PURCHASED A 3 PANEL SYSTEM THIS WILL COMPLETE YOUR INSTALLATION OF THE SYSTEM. IF YOU HAVE A SYSTEM WITH MORE THAN 3 PANELS THEN YOU WILL CONTINUE THE PROCEDURE OF MATCHING THE NUMBERED BOXES OF HARDWARE TO THE NUMBERS LOCATED ON THE PANELS. SOME FOLDING DOOR SYSTEMS ARE SLIT SYSTEMS WHICH MEANS SOME PANELS WILL FOLD LEFT AND SOME WILL FOLD RIGHT. (EXAMPLE 2L + 3R) IN THIS CASE YOU WILL NEED TO START AS INSTRUCTED ABOVE STARTING WITH THE LARGER TRACK PANEL PORTION AND THEN REVERSE UPPER TRACK HARDWARE INSTALLATION BEFORE INSERTING THE SMALL PIECE OF TRACK.
DUAL POINT LOCK SYSTEM Once you have installed all the panels it is time to install the final touches. Before installing the Dual Point lock handles you will need to do the following. If you do not take the time to do so and jump to the handle itself you may find difficulty aligning your locks as well as you lock &handle set for your swing door. STEP 1: Install all weather stripping provided between panels and around perimeter of frame in the rebates that are precut. STEP 2: First notice that the upper strike plate for the top bolt in the panel is not install. Leave it uninstalled until the end for alignment and adjustment. Locate the Dual Point Handle. Keep the doors folded away from all tracking and framing and Use the handle to position the upper and lower bolts to the unlocked position.(this means that the bolts are retracted into the panel and not visible). Once they are retracted face the handle upward and insert the handle into the 3 holes on the door. Turn the handle towards the glass leaving it in a horizontal position allowing you to install the screws provided for the handle. (DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN OR FORCE HANDLE INTO POSITON. IF HANDLE IS NOT
OPERATING AS EXPLAIN ABOVE YOU MOST LIKELY ARE IN THE DOWN POSITION OR TRYING TO TURN IT AWAY FROM THE GLASS) STEP 3: Once the handle is installed, verify that the locking system is working properly. (EXAMPLE: HANDLE FACING UP= UNLOCKED, HANDLE FACING DOWN= LOCKED). STEP 4: After you have verified that the handle is working properly you can now test the alignment in the closed position. To do this you will put the handle in the UNLOCKED position, grab the hinge handle in the center of the panels and close. While holding the hinge handle use your other hand to move the Dual Point handle into the LOCKED positon. Both bolts should fall into upper and lower strike areas. STEP 5: Once the door locks successfully you can then determine if your upper strike plate hole is in the correct area. (TIP: USE SMALL SHORT SCREWS (NOT INCLUDED) TO TEST INTALLATION OF UPPER STRIKE PLATE. IN THE CASE YOU HAVE TO MOVE IT YOU WILL STILL HAVE PLENTY OF SURFICE FOR A FINAL SCREW TO GRAB.)
