Finish Lacks Shine Cause Solution Most likely Finish recoated too quickly Finish applied too heavily Insufficient number of coats applied Top scrub finish using Carroll Restorer and apply up to 3 coats of Carroll Finish. This problem is common on porous floor such as concrete an old asbestos tile. Rough or uneven substrate Top scrub finish using Carroll Restorer and apply up to 3 coats of Carroll Finish. Finish dried too quickly Top scrub finish using Carroll Restorer and apply 1 or 2 coats of Carroll Finish. This is normally found when fans improperly, (pointed down at the floor rather than elevated above the floor) have been used to help dry finish. Least likely Dirty application equipment or soiled floor To insure a quality result, use clean buckets, mops, and auto scrubbers. Always clean and rinse floors before applying finish. 9

If this doesn't work after one week, deep scrub the floor using Carroll Restorer and apply one additional thin coat of Carroll Finish. Least likely Finish applied too heavily Allow floor to cure, and continue buffing. If this doesn't work after one week, deep scrub the floor using and apply Carroll Restorer one additional thin coat of Carroll Finish. 10

Finish is Tacky Cause Solution Most likely Finish did not dry Allow floor to dry completely before opening to traffic. The main reason floors remain tacky is caused by high humidity (> 80%) conditions during application of the finish. If this is the case, use indirect air movement over areas to be finished. Elevate blower/air mover in these areas. Finish recoated too quickly Least likely Finish applied too heavily Allow floor to cure, and continue buffing. If this doesn't work after one week, top scrub 11

Check coverage rate for finish and make sure mop is not being pressed in mop wringer. Finish dried too quickly Top scrub finish using Carroll Restorer and apply 1 or 2 coats of finish. This is normally found when fans have been used improperly, (pointed down at the floor rather than elevated above the floor) to help dry finish. Finish recoated too quickly Top scrub finish using Carroll Restorer and apply 1 or 2 coats of finish. Mop drag is a good indication that finish was recaoted too quickly causing ripples in finish. Finish applied too heavily Top scrub finish using Carroll Restorer and apply an additional thin coat of Carroll Finish. Least likely Dirty application equipment or soiled floor To insure a quality result, use clean buckets, mops, and auto scrubbers. Always clean and rinse floors before applying finish. 12

Softer finishes require more frequent burnishing and harder finishes require less burnishing. Consult your supplier for proper finish for your floor care maintenance program. Finish applied too thinly Top scrub finish using Carroll Restorer and apply 1 or 2 coats of Carroll Finish. Finish has not fully cured Softer finishes require longer curing time. Continue to burnish.
