1 Eligibility: 1. B.A. - I Pass Students with any Subjects offered upto B.A. I are eligible. 2. Duration of Diploma is 2 Years along with B.A-.II and III classes under G.N.D.U. 3. Students who have offered Home Science as one of the elective subjects in B.A. II are also eligible to opt for this Diploma. 4. Classes will be held during college hours. 5. Diplomas are additional subjects along with three required for degree courses. 6. Examination will be held by G.N.D.U. at the end of annual examination of degree classes.

3 Ist Year Paper I Time Allowed: 3 Hours Max. Marks: 40 Instructions for paper-setters: The Paper Setter is required to set eight questions in all and the candidate will be required to attempt any five.all questions carry equal marks. The question paper should be strictly according to syllabus and the language should be straight and simple. Theory: 1. Meaning and importance of garment designing. 2. Elementary knowledge of principles and elements of design in relation to garment designing. 3. Factors influencing designing of dress and selection of clothes for different persons-age, Sex, Climate, Physical characteristics, Activity, Occasion and Fashion etc. 4. Taking body measurements. Practical: 1. Figure drawings for children and women. 2. Designing garments for children Rompor, Night Suit, Frock Aline and Party Wear. 3. Stitching: A. Making samples of basic stitches like: Basting, Tacking, Hermming, Back Stitch, Button Hole and Loop Stitch. B. Basic Seams: Plain, Raun & Fell, French, Lapped, Counter and Mentua Maker. C. Tucks: Pleats, Gathers, Placket Openings One Piece, Two Piece, Zipper, Finishing of Neck Lines. D. Decorative Stitches: (Any ten and making an embroidery sampler.) References: 1. 4 IInd Year Paper - II Time Allowed: 3 Hours Max. Marks: 40 Instructions for paper-setters: The Paper Setter is required to set eight questions in all and the candidate will be required to attempt any five. All questions carry equal marks. The question paper should be strictly according to syllabus and the language should be straight and simple. Theory: 1. Drafting: Meaning, Importance, Adaptation, Lay Cut and Sketching 2. Fabric selection, placing of patterns, marking and cutting 3. Equipment used for drafting, cutting and stitching. 4. Sewing machine its use, defects and maintenance. Practical: 1. Figure drawing for women 2. Designing of salwar, kameej, kurt- churidar, nighty, skirt and top. 3. Drafting of child s bodies block and adaptation to A-line choli frock. 4. Drafting, Adaptation, Cutting and stitching of the following: a Collars baby, peter pan, cape and chinese band b Sleeves plain, puff and cap c One frock 5.
