From Fabric A, fussy cut: one 21-1/2 x 41-1/2 center panel Cutting Instructions From Fabric B, cut: two 5 x length of fabric strips. Trim to yield: two 5 x 50-1/2 for the side inner borders. two 5 x remaining WOF strips. Trim to yield: two 5 x 21-1/2 for the top and bottom inner borders. four 10 squares page 2
From Fabric C, cut: seven 3-1/2 x WOF strips. Trim to yield: two 3-1/2 x 30-1/2 for the top and bottom center panel sashing strips eight 3-1/2 x 10-1/2 outer sashing strips Sew the three remaining strips together, end-to-end, then trim to yield: two 3-1/2 x 56-1/2 for the side center panel sashing strips From each of Fabrics D and E, cut: eight of Template 1 Note: If it is important to you that the directional fabrics are oriented correctly (pointing up, down, left and right) on the fi nished quilt, cut them following examples shown in the cover sample. Fabric D Fabric E From Fabric F, cut: sixteen of Template 2 sixteen of Template 2-Reversed From the Binding Fabric, cut: seven 2-1/2 x WOF strips page 3
Assemble the Quilt Center Step 1: Sew the Fabric B top and bottom inner borders to the Fabric A panel. Press toward the borders. Sew the Fabric B side inner borders to the Fabric A panel. Press toward the borders. Step 2: Sew the Fabric C top and bottom center panel sashing to the quilt center. Press toward the sashing. Sew the Fabric C side center panel sashing to the quilt center. Press toward the sashing. Assemble the Blocks Step 3: Sew a Fabric F/Template 2 and Fabric F/Template 2-Reversed to opposite edges of a Template 1 piece. Press toward the Fabric F pieces. Trim to 10-1/2 square, if necessary. Repeat Step 3 for all Template 1 triangles, creating sixteen pieced blocks. page 4
Assemble the Quilt Step 4: Sew the top row of three pieced blocks together, as shown. Pay careful attention to the direction of the prints if you chose to cut them specifically to read in the correct direction. Sew a 3-1/2 x 10-1/2 Fabric C strip to each end of the row. Then, sew a Fabric B square to each end of the row. Press the seams toward the Fabric C strips. Step 5: Repeat Step 4 to create the bottom row, noting the fabric placement and block orientation. Step 6: Sew the left column of five pieced blocks together, as shown. Pay careful attention to the direction of the prints if you chose to cut them specifically to read in the correct direction. Sew a 3-1/2 x 10-1/2 Fabric C strip to the top and bottom of the column. Then, sew the column to the left edge of the quilt center, pressing toward the center. Step 7: Repeat Step 6 to create the right column, noting the fabric placement and block orientation. Step 8: Sew the top and bottom rows to the quilt, pressing the seams open or to one side. Your quilt top is complete! Baste, quilt, bind and enjoy! page 5
