Preface This user's manual describes the installation, commissioning and maintenance of EU wide band consumer boosters of single band and dual band. Please do read user manual carefully before installing and maintaining the booster. The information in this manual is subject to change without prior notice. Opinions are welcomed about the manual improvement. Safety Warnings Users must follow the principles mentioned below: Booster should follow system requirement of communication equipment, assure good grounding and lightning protection. The power supply voltage of booster should meet the standards of security requirement; any operation shall be carried out only after cutting off power in advance. Only the professional is authorized for the operation. Do not dismantle machine, maintain or displace accessories by yourself, because in this way, the equipment may be damaged and you may even get an electric shock. Do not open the booster, touch the module of booster, or open the cover of module to touch the electronic component. The components will be damaged due to electrostatic. Please keep away from heating-equipment, because the booster will dissipate heat during working. And do not cover booster with anything that influences heat-dissipation. 3

Overview EU single band and dual band consumer booster are designed to help mobile users amplify weak signal. They are bi-directional amplifiers. The donor antenna receives the signal from the cell tower, and transmits to the signal booster, the signal booster amplifies them and then the indoor antenna will retransmits to your mobile device. Vice Versa, the signal produced by your phone are also received by indoor antenna, amplified by the booster and then send back to cell tower by donor antenna. Install Your Hardware Before You Install Make sure you have sufficient cable length between proposed donor/server antenna location and booster connector. Make sure the position you install the booster is near to one existing electrical outlet, and well ventilated, away from excessive heat, moisture, and direct sunlight. Mount your signal booster, Connect the cables to the signal Booster from the outdoor antenna and indoor antenna at the designated ports, and connect the booster to the AC supply(make sure all the cables are connected). Install the indoor antenna where you want to improve the signal. 1. The signal strength from the outdoor antenna directly affects the efficiency of indoor 6

coverage. Install Outdoor Antenna Select a proper place to install the outdoor antenna. Normally the roof of the building is a good choice. As shown from the above graph, you need test the signal from A to E, and select a place with best signal for installation. Select direction of outdoor antenna. The outdoor antenna should point to the tower for better signals. Installation of outdoor antenna In most cases, the panel antenna is the best choice. You can also choose wide band YAGI antenna as an option. There are 2 types of installation: wall mount or pole mount. Wall mounts are recommended for your convenience. Install outdoor panel antenna as an example: Step1: Unscrew antenna from L-mounting bracket on antenna base with wrench. Step2: Mount vertical plate of the L-bracket on the wall with supplied screws. Step3: Screw antenna back onto horizontal plate. Notes: Wrap waterproof tape around the connectors between outdoor antenna and feeder lines to avoid water or other kinds of damage. 7

Install Indoor Antenna According to the requirement of practical application, to choose Indoor panel antenna, Omni-directional antenna or whip antenna as server antenna. Install indoor panel and whip antenna as an example: Indoor panel antenna Whip antenna Install the signal booster Step1: Select an indoor location close to a power outlet on a wall. Step2: Mount the booster with the screws included as shown in the figure. Step3: Connect the outdoor antenna cables to booster connector marked outdoor. Tighten the connection with hand or wrench. Step4: Connect the indoor antenna cables to booster connector marked indoor. Tighten the connection with hand or wrench. Step5: Connect the AC power cord to the signal booster, then connect the plug to the electrical outlet. Step6: Power on the booster. Booster installation Connection from cable to booster 8

Booster s port description Single band Dual band 1. LCD 2. LCD Key 3. Gain control 4. Power connector 5. Outdoor antenna port 6. Indoor antenna port 7.Set Booster Commissioning After power on the booster, it will automatically adjust for best performance with its integrated intelligent software system. In most cases, no manual operation (knob Switch) is needed. The LCD definition as follows: Item Project Description 1 LCD Polling Mode displays the Frequency, Gain, Output Power, ISO and ALC according to the set order and time interval 2 LCD Fixed Mode displays the current selected program, real-time refresh 3 LCD Off Mode LCD background light off, displays no information 4 LCD Flashing Mode LCD background light flash 5 ALC alarm ALC startup 10dB, ALC character flash on the LCD 6 ISO alarm System antenna isolation: ISO<System Gain, ISO character flash on the LCD ALC flash: if the booster has a strong input signal which is more than 10 db of maximum input signal strength, the equipment s ALC startup, "ALC" character flash on the LCD. Measures: Below actions are recommended to eliminate "ALC" flash 9

1. Adjust the antennas directions or locations to lower down input power. 2. Slowly add the attenuation by the knob. 3. Reduce the booster s gain by external attenuator or replace with lower gain antenna if the above methods don t work. Target: The work is accomplished until no ALC character Flash on the LCD Please note that "ALC character flash may work not normal, which shall be paid attention to. ISO: if the booster has not enough isolation between the outdoor and indoor antennas ISO character flash on the LCD. Measures: One of below actions are recommended to eliminate "ISO character flash 1. Adjust the antennas directions or locations or enlarge the distance between them. 2. Add the vertical or horizontal distance between donor antenna and server antenna. 3. Use the barrier like walls to increase the isolation. 4. Change server antenna(server antenna can be changed to other antenna type which has better directional antenna pattern, also you can let server antenna and donor antenna point opposite direction). 5. Reduce the booster s DL gain by the knob. Keep the UL attenuation value and DL attenuation value same then restart the booster. Remark: Uplink gain must be equal to or better to be 5dB less than DL gain, it can t be more in order to avoid interference with mobile network. Target: The work is accomplished until no ISO character flash on the LCD After no ISO and ALC character flash on the LCD, check whether the coverage is good or not. If it is good, the booster system is completed; and below actions shall be taken if the coverage is not good. 1) If the signal in most areas have not been improved, please check below again: The weak input signal leads to the low output power. Change the direction of donor antenna or its installation position or replace donor antenna with higher gain antenna to increase input signal power level. Check whether it is necessary to add more server antennas since barriers block the signal penetration, also check whether the repeater s power is enough; please install more server antennas or replace with a repeater of higher power level. 2) If the signal in small part of the areas have not been improved, please check below: Check whether the service antenna is installed correctly or not, you may try to move the antenna location to improve coverage. Check if it is necessary to adjust the direction of the sever antenna. 10

Check whether it is necessary to add one or more antenna to enhance the coverage of special areas Remark: Reduce the attenuation values*---at the same time must ensure the isolation. Increase the output power* ---recommended ways: adjust the donor antenna direction / location, or replace with higher gain antenna to increase input signal strength. Manual gain control (MGC) 0~270 degree of MGC knob means 0~31dB Spin clockwise means that add the attenuation, spin anticlockwise means that lessen the attenuation. Note: In addition to solve the problems of ISO and ALC, adjust MGC also can help to balance uplink and downlink to get better coverage effect according to the actual application. 11
