BrazeTec Brazing Alloys and Brazing Fluxes BrazeTec Cadmium Free Brazing Alloys Cadmium free Brazing Alloys The silver brazing alloys shown on this page are generally capable of being used for operation temperatures from 200 C to +200 C. They can be used with any type of steel, copper and copper alloy, and nickel and nickel alloy. There is a risk of crevice-corrosion when brazing rust free stainless steel because of its zinc content. Tin free brazes are particularly suitable for dynamic operating conditions. BrazeTec recommends its customers to change to cadmium free brazing alloys and will advise their customers in the selection process of an adequate alloy from its large palette of cadmium free brazing alloys. CoMet Flux Coated Brazing Rods, with Cadmium BrazeTec offers the following flux coated rods from its range of cadmium brazing alloys under the name of CoMet (coated metal) as flux coated rods as well. This flux is equal to type FH 10 in accordance to DIN EN 1045. The applicable instructions for the use of cadmium brazing alloys are effective for application. The silver content of the coated brazing rods is lower than the silver content of pure brazing rods due to the flux coating. The composition of the pure brazing rods is of course equal to listed cadmium containing brazing alloys. BrazeTec Brazing Alloys for Copper and Copper Based Materials These Brazing alloys can be used at working temperatures from 55 C to +150 C. The phosphor containing brazing alloys on this page were especially developed for the joining of copper with copper or of copper alloys (brass, bronze, red brass). The use of an additional flux is not necessary when brazing copper to copper due to its phosphor-content. These brazing alloys are not allowed in the brazing of material that contains sulphur. This particularly applies to animal breeding facilities where an atmosphere containing sulphur can evolve due to the decomposition of protein. These brazing alloys are not suitable for steels (Fe) and nickel alloys due to brittle-phase-generation. BrazeTec S 2 and BrazeTec S 94 are approved for use according to DVGW. BrazeTec Active Brazing Alloys for the Brazing of Ceramic Materials BrazeTec Active Brazing Alloys A minimal brazing temperature of 850 C is necessary in order to achieve a connection with ceramics using the BrazeTec Active Brazing Alloy. Higher brazing temperatures can improve the wetting behavior. Pure Argon (4.8) or vacuum (<10-3 mbar) is used as the protective brazing atmosphere. The temperature for a vacuum brazing should not exceed much more than 900 C to 1000 C to avoid the evaporation of silver. BrazeTec Brazing Pastes Nickel Based Brazing Paste Systems BrazeTec offers innovative brazing systems that are based on brazing suspensions making it possible to apply coats of brazing material through screen printing processes, spraying, dipping or roller-coating. Depending upon the selected application method, the brazing paste system can be applied in a laminar or contour exact coating. These modern application-systems can be used for almost all known powdertype nickel-based-brazing alloys. The products shown below are available as standard products from BrazeTec. Among others, the application of the Brazetec nickel-based-brazing-pastes is commonly practiced in heat exchanger and the automotive industry. Silver Based Brazing Paste Systems The silver based BrazeTec brazing pastes can be used to braze any steel, copper, nickel, and copper alloy. They can be applied with dispenser or screen printing. There is a risk of crevice-corrosion when brazing stainless steels because the braze contains zinc. The brazing pastes shown below are available on a standard basis, and depending on the application, they do contain flux or are flux free. Additional alloys are available upon request. BrazeTec Brazing Paste Systems for the CuproBraze-Process The CuproBraze-Process was developed especially for the flux free brazing of copper-brassradiators in protective gas furnaces. The brazing material used in this process is a phosphor containing copper alloy. The radiators are produced in a manner that displays high resistance with high working temperatures as well. In addition the entire CuproBraze-Process is also notable for its low costs. The different solvent based pastes can be applied by spraying it on the tubes (BrazeTec CST 600TD) or through special roller-coating on the fins (BrazeTec CSF 600TD). BrazeTec CSH 610 TD is used for the brazing of the pipes to joining plates. The thermoplastic paste BrazeTec CTF 600 is solid at room temperature, it becomes fluid at 70 C. It is then applied to copper fins when it reaches this temperature through a special coating process (i.e. roller-coating). This brazing pastes can, of course, be used for Cu-Cu-Brazing as well. Heat Insulation Mat Fibrous Web for Cleaning BrazeTec Heat Protection Mat BrazeTec Cleaning Pad This asbestos free heat protection mat has the beneficial property of high quality non-melting fibrous web and the mechanical properties of textile glass products. The dense two ply woven edition with stitches that are sewn with high quality fire proof metal sewing thread, reduces the air permeability without adversely effecting the flexibility. An additional interlayer made of metal foil improves the insulation attributes as well as the heating insulation, and fosters form stability with loose casings. The heat protection mat protects the environment of the brazing joint from the burner flame. The direct heating of the brazing joint by the burner should be avoided. The BrazeTec heat protection mat is heat resistant for temporary exposure to temperatures from 300 C to 1000 C. The fusibility is delayed by an extended period of time due to a special type of treatment. The mat is only conditionally resistant against acids and alkaline, however, it can be exposed to oils and greases without reservations. Non-woven cleaning cloth for cleaning the ends of copper pipes. Advantages of using the cleaning pad: No metallic abrasion Fast pipe cleaning free from scoring lines The fabric has a long life as it can be cleaned repeadly by shaking out or washing. Oil and grease residues can be removed, as the cleaning pad is solvent resistant.
