BIO Bop and Soul sextet is an Hard-bop groovy jazz sextet based in Brussels, Belgium. The band's leader is the guitar player Maxime Blé sin. With this band, he gives a totally new oportunity for the guitar : being a part of a " Blowing " section. The arrangements and compostions of the leader enhance this new role. The band just released in Belgium their first CD : Hydrogen Bond. They have some International Jazz Festivals coming soon and two tour planned ( november 2012 and march 2013 in Belgium ). The eight composition of the CD are happy, groovy and really swingin' melodies where every members can express all their talent of amazing improvisers, from jazz tradition to modernity. To achieve this goal : - Hans van Oosterhout, drummer, elected best European jazz drummer by the magazine " Belgian Jazz Magazine " proves his incredible versatility playing swing and soul with groove and creativity, that's the reason why Toots Thielmans, Philip catherine, Lee Konitz, Vaya Con Dios,... choose him as a drummer. - Sal La Rocca, bassist support all the music with strong and earthy groove and shows why he is one of the favorite sidemen in Europe for player like Steeve Grossman, Richie Beirach, Archie Shepp, Randy Brecker. - Pascal Mohy, young piano player confirmes his talent with subtility, culture and musicality which deserves his Best young talent Django d'or 2007 in Belgium. - Eric Prost, on sax tenor enlights the CD with lyrical and creative improvisations.
