OPERATION CONVERSATION: COPS & KIDS HONOREE JENNIFER KOHL Executive Director, All Stars Project of NJ The All Stars Project is proud to honor Jennifer Kohl at the 2017 New Benefit Dinner for her inspiring and passionate leadership in bringing Operation Conversation: Cops & Kids to Newark, NJ. Jennifer began her career as successful marketing executive before turning her interests to the field of health and wellness where she founded Lotus Enterprises and its not-for-profit arm Lotus in Action in Montclair, NJ. In 2005 she moved the organizations to Newark where she has been ever since. Jennifer s commitment to the people of Newark led her to work on The Honorable Ras J. Baraka s triumphant 2014 mayoral campaign as a fundraiser and event planner. After the election, Jennifer served as Senior Advisor for Special Projects to Mayor Ras J. Baraka. She worked to create public-private partnerships to achieve Mayor Baraka s goal of transforming Newark into a that all of its residents and America can believe in, by positioning it as a national leader for social, emotional and intellectual progress. In 2016 Jennifer became the Executive Director of the All Stars Project of New where she led the process of launching the All Stars Project s internationally award-winning police-community relations program, Operation Conversation: Cops & Kids, in Newark. The program quickly became a component of Mayor Baraka s public safety platform. Jennifer was able to initiate numerous impactful partnerships between the All Stars and Newark-based organizations which set up Cops & Kids and other All Stars programs for sustained long-term growth. Jennifer has been an important partner to so many of Newark s young people, residents and community organizations. The All Stars Project is grateful for her hard work and community-building efforts.
The All Stars Project of New is proud to bring our internationally-recognized police-community relations initiative, Operation Conversation: Cops & Kids, to Newark in partnership with Mayor Ras Baraka, Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose and the of Newark. All Stars Project has successfully brought afterschool development programs to thousands of inner-city youth in Newark and across New over the past 18 years by building and leveraging impactful partnerships with a broad and diverse range of companies and individuals. Through our programs, young people, their families and communities are able to see new possibilities. They make new decisions for their lives and successfully enter the mainstream of society. Operation Conversation: Cops & Kids fosters positive and trust building interactions between the police and innercity youth. The program, consisting of a series of workshops, uses performance to create an environment where cops and kids can talk to one another. The program has operated successfully in New York with the NYPD since 2011. A successful pilot program was completed in Newark in 2016. The 2017-2018 launch of the program in Newark includes monthly workshops held in partnership with community based organizations and the Newark Public Schools, community meetings throughout the city, 1-2 public demonstrations annually and a facilitator training program. All Stars is a 100% privately-funded organization and our programs are offered for free to the young people who participate. This fall, we are proud to honor Jennifer Kohl for her work as Executive Director building partnerships between the of Newark, local organizations and the All Stars Project. Most notably, Jennifer s work made it possible for the All Stars to launch Operation Conversation: Cops & Kids in Newark in spring 2017. Because of her efforts, young people and police officers in Newark have the opportunity to come together to create a new kind of relationship in this life-changing program. We will recognize FMR LLC s CFO Gerry McGraw as our Benefit Dinner honoree and presenting a Lifetime of Service Award to Investors Bank s CEO Kevin Cummings at the event.
