Lathe Features To provide the quality and durability that CLAUSING owners expect, these lathes are engineered to the highest standards of performance, and are manufactured to meet international lathe standards ISO/R 1708, British Standard BS4656, and DIN 8606. Take a look at these features: Headstock Controls The rigid spindle is mounted on Gamet pre-loaded machine tool spindle bearings, for precise turning accuracy and the ability to operate under extremely heavy loads. Transmission gears are of alloy steel, induction hardened and Reishauer-ground, with the casting itself rigidly located on the bed vee-way for maintained accuracy. Gearbox The rigid one-piece cast-iron unit is totally enclosed and splash lubricated. Induction-hardened gears provide a comprehensive range of threads and feeds, and on to 21" models torque limiting clutches are fitted to the leadscrew and feed shafts. Headstock controls are ergonomically designed for operator convenience and production efficiency, with centrally-positioned speed selector, low-voltage pushbutton station, and a prominent emergency stop button. A safety switch on the end guard prevents machine operation while the guard is removed. On through 21" machines, provisions have been made for the incorporation of accessory controls.... l I ; 1

Apron provides easy and positive adjustment on all machines. A one-shot lubrication system on 13 to 21 machines is standard, as are adjustable tapered gibs. Heavy-duty cast-iron apron is a totally enclosed design, and is splash lubricated. On 13 to 21 machines the main START/STOP and FORWARD/REVERSE controls are apron-mounted and safety gated. The handwheels can be disengaged. Saddle and Slides Full-length cross slide with external dovetail for quick attachment of rear-mounted accessories on 13 to 21 machines. Backlash eliminator for the crossfeed screw Bed and Base The extra-wide bed has been designed with wide vertical ports for rapid chip clearance. The bed is bolted to a full-length heavy-gauge steel pedestal, providing an ultra-rigid structure easily capable of containing the very heavy cutting forces of which the machine is capable. Bed ways are induction-hardened and precision form ground. Tallstocks Rigid construction, seated on separate slideways from those used for saddle. Full set-over facilities. Power and Capacity The CLAUSING 21" lathe Largest in the lineup of CLAUSING lathes, the 21 is the choice for a wide range of production applications, as well as toolroom and maintenance work. Powered by a 12 1/2 h.p. motor, the 21 lathe pro vides 18 speeds from 31 to 1600 rpm. Available in 3 bed lengths: 40 60 and 80 between centers, and in both straight-bed and gapbed models.
