Urban Backpacker Life Wish List 2015 Questions It s your life, and it s your big beautiful backpack of thoughts, words, and intentions that will gladly fill you up or deplete you while sitting there inside your pack every day, every month, and every year for the rest of your life. You get to choose how you fill your own backpack every day. Words are powerful tools. The following questions are helpful reminders and to guide you through your own inner journey of self-exploration, learning, growing, giving (or not giving), receiving, listening, loving, choosing, and letting go. Title for YOUR YEAR: What is the Title for your new re-start year? Imagine everything and anything is possible for you. What are you needing this year? What do you want to change? What are your dreams and passions? This is where you begin filling your own backpack with a framework or a beginning - one thing, one action, one word, one belief, and one baby step at a time. Ready. Set. Go! 2. Community: How will you connect, volunteer or contribute to your community? Your community of people is made up of whomever and whatever group you choose. This can be an area of giving or being involved in something that makes you smile, or makes you cry, or makes you nothing. Do GOOD THINGS. Start little. Aim for BIG. 3. Physical Body and Future Health: How will you honor your physical body and future health? Your health is vital and important. How you eat, drink, sleep, and exercise (or don t exercise) affects every aspect of your life. What changes will you make this year to honor or forgive your body? This is a good reminder to move if you are able, to stretch, to eat well, and listen to the body tell you if it disagrees with something. It is also a time to forgive yourself if you are feeling negative about the insides or outsides of yourself. Your body is smart. Listen to yourself. Honor you. 4. Spirituality: How will you nurture your own spirituality? Your beliefs are important and they may change over time. Honor and cherish them. They could be thoughts filled with loving kindness for the soul. Dig deep and ask yourself why, what, and where do I go to find that peaceful, connected, quiet, wonderful, spiritual place for myself. You deserve a peaceful heart. You belong to you. What does faith mean to you? Nurture it. 5. Friends and Fun: How will you connect with your friends and/or have fun? It seems as though there is never enough RAW FUN in life. We all definitely deserve to play, and laugh, and act like little kids again. Friends and fun prove a damn good combo to make the heart happy. Support, a hug, a good cry, and a listening ear, make for lighter spirits and lighter days. Our BFF s might even help us carry our heaviest packs, and artfully suggest what things we might unload. Make a friend, be a friend, write a friend, call a friend. It does a body good. Smile-Play-Laugh-Silly = FUN. 6. Work Goals: What are your work goals for this year? This one is a challenge. Often times, our work (is work), and should stay at that place, space, room or cubicle where we work. This area might be a helpful spot to accomplish things that have been resting happily on a back burner, back of mind, or sitting there just out of reach on another life list NOT checked off. Are you on a promotion path? Do you have meetings to schedule? Paintings you might like to 3
dream up? People to hire? People to fire? Books to write? A business to launch? Companies to take public? Plans to facilitate? Make it.happen. If-youwant-to that is. J 7. Financial Growth: What is important to you regarding your financial growth this year? Might you save money for special coffee drinks, or for date nights in your jar of spare change? Have you completed your estate planning? Are you saving cash for a rainy day in your sewing basket like your grandmother did? Added to your 401K in a while? Saved for a well-deserved vacation? Budgeted shopping sprees for thee? Bought a house? Rented? Save, or not. Work diligently, or not. Market yourself, or not. Spend, or not. Win the lottery, or not? You decide. You are the winner of your own financial destiny. 8. Personal Growth: What will you learn this year? How will you inspire your own personal growth? How will you gift yourself your days? What is the one thing, or one dream, or one class, or five things (or eight things), you have been putting off giving yourself as a gift? Is there anything you would like to learn? Achieve? Dream up? Is there something you might do to make you feel like Superwoman or Superman if you mastered it? What will make you feel like you are expanding with joy and knowledge inside? How will you care for your brain as you age, and how will you care for it now? This place is where we offer ourselves a gift of time and life energy. We offer to ourselves the chance to learn, grow, and achieve great things, or not to achieve at all. Perhaps personal growth to you, means to sit in silence and enjoy the beauty of no words, and the sweetest power of nothingness. Forever and now, is the perfect time to follow your heart. 9. Family: How will you connect with family? Family is a tricky one. You get to choose your partners and your friends. You get to choose how and whom you honor a family connection with. You choose how often you connect with family folks. You own the guilt surrounding how, where and why to connect with family. You choose how you celebrate the special people in your family circles. where you might talk about the special folks in your family circles. This circle of your life is made up of whomever you will it to be. Will there be a handmade card, a birthday book, or a treasure of time shared with loved ones? Treasure yourself, and treasure those around you. This list is yours for the giving or perhaps, just the understanding. Give yourself permission to let go. 10. Take Your Breath Away or Challenging: What will you do this year that takes your breath away? What feels difficult, scary, or challenging? Do you walk tightropes? Jump out of airplanes? Are you that thrill seeker, kind of take your breath away person, or do you prefer a good challenge? Are you better suited for mellow life events celebrating loudly inside your own self? Where do you find the AWE (for awesome) places in your life? What turns you on? What does adventure mean to you? Where is that place that brings you to your knees? Perhaps, you might feel a little zinger imagining or reading about something that will take your breath away. A full life is a true gift allow your cup to runneth over!
