Single Device Dual Mode Communication is a hybrid telemetry system developed for improved security, theft prevention and recovery of vehicles, assets and cargo, while utilizing dual mode communication technology including Cellular communication across 2G/3G * networks and a backup, one-way RF communication beacon. The hybrid telematics end unit is installed in a vehicle or other mobile asset and continuously monitors security and operational parameters, establishing a cellular communication session with the backend whenever required. Upon failure to report a security compromise to the backend due to a jammed channel, server unavailability or lack of coverage during a predefined time, the device starts a periodic RF-beacon status transmission, while checking whether cellular communication can be reestablished. The periodic RF transmission is received by a network of sparsely deployed fixed and/or mobile receivers, spread in the area of coverage and connected to the backend through 3G cellular communications. * Future capability
Hybrid Security Network Base RF ISM Network Backup Mobile 2G/3G Network Wheeler Cellocator End Unit Mobile & Chaser App How does it work? The end-unit installed in the vehicle establishes a cellular communication session with the backend whenever required according to the device configuration, or when a security event is detected. In cases of jamming, server failure or lack of coverage the device starts to operate a periodic RF beacon status transmission, while occasionally checking whether cellular communications can be reestablished. The periodic RF transmission can be received by a network of deployed fixed receivers ( Base) and/or by mobile receivers ( Wheeler) which are cost-effectively deployed according to operational needs to cover a specific area, city or even country-wide. Signals received by the Base and Wheeler units are forwarded to the backend in order to identify the vehicle s location as projected by its embedded GPS (or Cell-ID information), or to estimate its location based on RSSI and big data analysis. Last mile chasing is performed by the Mobile unit, used as a hand-held receiver to receive the RF beacon transmissions sent by the end-unit and to indicate the direction from which the signal arrives and the relative distance of the vehicle from the chasing device, based on the signal strength. In networks without fixed receivers, chasing vehicles are sent to the last known location area of the vehicle, to start exploring the area methodically in order to trace the RF beacon signal. Once the RF beacon is locked, the chasing vehicles can reach the indicated location of the stolen vehicle using the Chaser application, communicating with the Mobile receiver through BT technology. If a GPS fix is available; it can easily be reached via application maps. Alternatively, it can be approached based on the direction and strength of the signals indicated by the Mobile unit. In such cases, the information received by the mobile receivers is uploaded to the back-end, which uses the data received from multiple mobile and fixed receivers in order to apply the estimated real-time location that can assist the chasing vehicles to rapidly close the gap on the stolen vehicle.
Highlights A Hybrid Cellular/ ISM UHF RF telemetry system Cellular communication across 2G/3G networks A backup, one way communication channel (RF beacon) Jamming immunity - the RF channel enables transmissions from the end unit and successful reception in the receiver, even in a jammed environment. Location technology - location is based on an embedded GPS or on RSSI and big data analysis. Last mile chasing after a stolen vehicle is executed using a mobile chasing device. RF communication frequencies - in beacon mode the system operates within the unlicensed UHF ISM 902-928Mhz band. Cost-effective deployment due to a modular system which can include fixed receivers ( Base) and/or mobile receivers ( Wheeler and Mobile) to suit every coverage need from a small city to nationwide. Cellocator end unit 1 can detect the jammer and automatically move to beacon mode. System Building Blocks Cellocator End Unit Base Wheeler Mobile Chaser Application Base - a fixed receiver / RF-Gateway installed in a permanent location (such as communication towers, lamp post or building rooftop), connected to an AC power source (via a 24V power supply). Excellent sensitivity (-124 dbm) - up to 20km reception distance Six channels per receiver box - receive up to 6 units concurrently Wireless connectivity to server and OTA for upgrades and maintenance purposes Bluetooth 2.0 technician remote configuration Excellent outdoor compatibility - IP 66 and sun guard to protect from direct sunlight Internal power backup battery for up to 12 hours, with auto recovery when main power is available again Mobile connected to the vehicle power with the Omni antenna attached to the vehicle roof via a magnet and used by the chasers. For last-mile scenarios carried out on foot, the mobile receiver can be disconnected from the vehicle power, connected to the Yagi antenna and carried in a unique carrying bag. Excellent sensitivity (-120 dbm) - up to 5km reception distance Automatic transition from chase mode to mobile receiver mode and light weight Internal power backup battery lasts up to 12 hours One Input, One Output (LED\Buzzer indication) Connectivity to Pointercept Chaser application Wheeler - installed in a mobile platform (usually a vehicle) while connected to a 12/24V power source (the vehicle battery), with the Omni antenna attached to the vehicle roof via a magnet. It can be used with fleets that have vehicles spread over a specific area in order to receive and transmit data to the back-end. Zero management no driver intervention required Covert installation of the receiver, except for the vehicle s rooftop antenna Cello 3G capabilities included to enable fleet management usage Same technical features as Mobile Low current consumption 1. Currently available with the CR-300 unit - soon also for the Cello and CelloTrack units.
Chaser Application The Chaser application enables real-time indication of the RSSI and location (if available) of chased vehicles for last mile chasing and pinpointing. Provides location indication based on online maps (Google) and offline maps (in cases where no GSM is available) Includes two operational modes: Scan and Chase Direct connection to the command and control center (CCC) to guide chasers in location assessment Available for Andriod 4.0 and up via BT (SPP protocol) Technician mode - assists the technician during the Pointercept Base installation by indicating if there any malfunctions Specifications RF Receivers Technology Supported frequency bands: Modulation Sensitivity Number of Channels Cellular Communication GSM Modes: 3G: 2G: Power Output SIM Antenna Packet Data SMS Bluetooth Communication Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) Israel (Proprietary) 966037-967957 MHz ISM (region 2) - 902000-928000 MHz FSK modulation Fix receiver = -124 dbm Mobile receiver = -120 dbm 6 receive Channels BT Version v.2.1 + EDR BT Class Class 2 Transmit power +3 dbm Receiver sensitivity -86 dbm Supported Profile Serial Port Profile (SPP) Antenna Integrated chip antenna NA: UMTS/HSPA/GSM/GPRS/EDGS: 5.76[UL]/7.2[DL] Mbps, 850/1900 1W,2W,250mW Internal, replaceable, remote PIN code management Internal, multi band GSM antenna TCP/IP, UDP/IP PDU, text SMS for data forwarding
