Cameron MBO Multi-Bowl Wellhead System
MBO Multi-Bowl Wellhead System The Cameron MBO Multi-Bowl Wellhead System is a compact, unitized wellhead which can be used as an alternative to conventional wellhead systems in land and platform applications. The MBO Wellhead incorporates several features designed to substantially reduce installation time and improve safety. A Frelok diverter connector on top of the casing head facilitates installation and removal of the diverter. Removal of the diverter via the Frelok connection typically takes less than 15 minutes. Preinstalled segmented clamps are used on the wellhead connections and drilling adapters to further reduce rig time and eliminate handling of loose clamp parts. After installation of the drive pipe, the entire MBO Wellhead System is installed without cutting or welding. This eliminates the dependence on weather conditions and eliminates the need to shut in adjacent wells on platform developments. Wellhead housing and seals may be easily repaired or replaced without the need to cut through casing. Through-BOP operations minimize handling time. Featuring outlets and test ports only, no lockscrews, this system ensures minimum wellhead penetration. Components of the MBO Wellhead System are based on fieldproven technology and offer a range of features including: Lower Casing Head and Casing Hanger The MBO lower casing head is welded onto the drive pipe and is fitted with the Frelok connection on the top. The housing is a split design to facilitate the use of contingency equipment and maximize system maintenance during the life of the well. A simplified liner-style casing hanger lands in the lower casing head and suspends the conductor in the diverter adapter. This eliminates the need to install a starting head on the conductor, saving the time to remove the diverter from the drive pipe and reinstall it on the conductor. An integral annular seal in the casing hanger can be externally tested before cementing. The seal passes through a standard 21-1/4 diverter for strings up to 20. The casing hanger can be run on the casing, allowing full bore cementing. Wellhead Housing Lower Adapter The MBO wellhead housing lower adapter incorporates a casing hanger and landing ring. The adapter assembly is fluted for cementing and is installed on a full bore handling tool, allowing standard cementing procedures. The wellhead housing lower adapter incorporates an upper profile for connection of the wellhead housing. This eliminates the time associated with installing a head on the surface casing. n addition, this operation requires no cutting or welding and uses the time-saving FastClamp connector which engages a standard AP hub. An annular seal assembly is installed on the top of the wellhead housing lower adapter. This seal allows external testing and monitoring, and locks down the surface casing hanger. The seal assembly also acts as a cap to engage the Frelok profile and incorporates injectable seals to engage the lower adapter assembly. Wellhead Housing The wellhead housing is clamped to the top of the wellhead housing lower adapter via a SpeedClamp connection. The BOP stack mounts directly to the top of the housing and all subsequent operations continue without further stack handling. Mandrel Casing Hangers MBO Wellhead System casing hangers are fluted for cementing and are run on full bore handling tools to allow standard cementing operations. Casing hangers incorporate self-energizing lockdown rings which are retained in place by the handling tool during installation. These lockdowns can be verified before or after cementing operations. MBO casing hangers incorporate ES annulus seal assemblies, providing resilient elements with zero extrusion gap. Seals are designed to enable external testing and monitoring between the upper and lower seals during installation or production. The seals are tested prior to releasing the handling tool. Tubing Hanger The MBO Wellhead System tubing hanger offers the same lockdown and annular sealing features as the casing hangers with the addition of a continuous downhole control line. The continuous control line features an exit block on the wellhead housing. Dual tubing hangers are available.

MBO Features Frelok Connector Frelok Engaged Frelok Disengaged SD016644 A stab type connection that can be made up and tested in less than five minutes. Facilitates installation of the diverter with an appropriate cross-over, which can be preinstalled to minimize nipple up time. Disengages in less than 15 minutes to release the diverter. Control and Exit Block The control line enters and exits through the tubing hanger body. Fittings are provided in the control line entry and exit areas for isolation of the annulus. These fittings can be tested, via porting provided, before running the hanger. The control line exits the wellhead housing, as opposed to the tree adapter. The exit block is designed to reduce possible field damage, and has the line connected directly to the block minimizing the number of leak paths. Dual line exit blocks are available to facilitate dual completions without affecting the wellhead housing. SD016642 FastClamp Connector Fits standard clamp hub profiles using conventional AP ring gaskets. Clamp sections are preinstalled on the hub via the guide rods to eliminate safety concerns in handling the sections during installation. A lower make-up torque is obtained by reducing the size of the studs and increasing the quantity. n larger sizes, the torque has been reduced by as much as 95%. ES Annulus Seal Provides resilient elements with zero extrusion gap. Designed to enable external testing and monitoring between the upper and lower seals during installation or production, thereby enabling monitoring for diagnostic performance evaluation for maintenance planning. Pack-offs are tested prior to releasing the handling tool. SD016643 SD016645
