From Fabric A, cut: fi fteen 10 x 10 square panel pieces From Fabrics B and C, cut: a total of fi fteen 5- squares Notes Before You Begin Cutting Instructions page 2
From Fabric D, cut: two 2 x WOF strips. Subcut forty-two 2 squares. From Fabric, cut: eight 2-7/8 x WOF strips. Subcut sixty 2-7/8 x 5- rectangles three 3- x WOF strips. Subcut thirty 3- squares. Cut each square in half once along a diagonal, creating sixty triangles. seven 3 x WOF strips. Sew together, end to end, and trim to create: - two 3 x 57 and two 3 x 73 inner borders eight 3 x WOF strips. Sew together, end to end, and trim to create: - two 3 x 68 and two 3 x 84 outer borders From Fabric F, cut: eighteen 2 x WOF strips. Subcut seventy-one 2 x 10 rectangles. eight 2-1/2 x WOF strips for binding fabric From Fabric, cut: three 3- x WOF strips. Subcut thirty 3- squares. Cut each square in half once along a diagonal, creating sixty triangles. seven 3-1/2 x WOF strips. Sew together, end to end, and trim to create: - two 3-1/2 x 62 and two 3-1/2 x 79 middle borders From Fabric H, cut: seven 3-1/2 x WOF strips. Sew together, end to end, and trim to create: - two 3-1/2 x 62 and two 3-1/2 x 79 middle borders From binding fabric, cut: eight 2-1/2 x WOF strips Assemble the Pieced Blocks Place one Fabric and Fabric triangle RST. Sew along the longest edge, creating a half square triangle (HST) unit. Press seams toward the Fabric. Trim to 2-7/8 if necessary. Repeat to make sixty. B or C Sew one HST unit to each end of a 5- Fabric rectangle, with the Fabric edge of the HST next to the rectangle. Press toward the rectangle. Repeat to make thirty. Sew one 5- Fabric rectangle to opposite sides of a Fabric B or C square. Press toward the sashing. Repeat with all fi fteen B and C squares. Sew a HST strip to the top and bottom of the block. Note the orientation of the HST fabrics in the block diagram. Press away from the center square. Repeat to make fi fteen blocks. page 3
Add the Sashing and Cornerstones Sew a 10 Fabric F sashing strip to the right side of each block, including the panel squares. Press toward the sashing. Sew a 10 Fabric F sashing strip to the left side of three panel blocks and three pieced blocks. These will become the fi rst blocks in each row. Sew a sashing row, alternating six 2 Fabric D squares and fi ve Fabric F sashing strips. Press toward the sashing. Repeat to make seven rows. D F D F D F D F D F D Assemble the Quilt Center Arrange the quilt in a layout of six rows of fi ve blocks each, alternating the pieced and panel squares and referring to the Quilt Assembly Diagram. Sew the rows together, pressing toward the sashing. Sew the six block rows and the seven sashing rows together, pressing toward the sashing. Add the Borders Sew the 57 Fabric borders to the top and bottom of the quilt. Press toward the border. Sew the 73 Fabric borders to the sides of the quilt. Press toward the border. Sew the 62 Fabric borders to the top and bottom of the quilt. Press toward the border. Sew the 79 Fabric borders to the sides of the quilt. Press toward the border. Sew the 68 Fabric borders to the top and bottom of the quilt. Press toward the border. Sew the 84 Fabric borders to the sides of the quilt. Press toward the border. Your quilt is complete.
