The righteous perish, and no one takes it to heart; the devout are taken away, and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil. Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death. Service Friday, June 15, 2018-11:00 a.m. Whigham Funeral Home 580 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Newark, New Jersey
On Saturday June 2nd David Emanuel Beaton quietly transitioned into the arms of our heavenly father as he shed the bonds of mortality and entered the realm of eternity. God in his sovereignty chose to call David from labor to rest. David Emanuel Beaton was born December 3rd 1947 in Essequibo Guyana to Donald Emanuel Beaton and the late Nerlene Zandito Beaton. He was the oldest sibling of ten children: Carl Beaton, Maureen Beaton-Sullivan, Ermine David, the late Desiree Beaton, Douglas Beaton, Steve Beaton, Sandra Baptiste, Dr. Christian Beaton, Earl Beaton. David was educated at Anna Regina Government Primary School and Anna Regina Government High School. He later attended and graduated from Guyana Technical Institute. In 1968 David joined the Guyana Defense Force for two years. In 1970, David immigrated to the U.S. where he enlisted in the army during the Vietnam War. He received the National Defense Medal and Parachute Badge. He was a member of the 6th Special Forces. He served in the Military for two years and received an Honorable Discharge. David s military service enabled him to obtain American Citizenship. His citizenship was instrumental in his entire family becoming American Citizens.
After Military service, David attended New York City College of Technology in Brooklyn N.Y. He received an AAS Degree in Electrical Technology in 1978. David also attended Pratt Institute in Brooklyn N.Y. where he received a B.E. in Electrical Engineering. David was employed as an Engineer for 30 years. He was employed 7 years with Westinghouse Electrical Corporation and 23 years with New York City Transit. He retired in 2010. David met his wife Patricia in February of 1989. They were united in holy matrimony in 2006. David has six children Audrey Moore Grant-Lubin, Althea Beaton Ducard, Damian Beaton, Jamaal Hill, Raheem Beaton Massenburg, and Lauren Hill-Beaton. After retirement, David loved his home life with his family. He also loved God which was evident in his daily prayer and regular attendance at church every Sunday. He enjoyed driving his truck around while listening to jazz and Brazilian Music. He enjoyed spending time in Vermont where he indulged in chopping wood and tending to his wood burning stove. David had a special relationship with everyone whose lives he impacted. He was respected by all who knew him, and he was a distinguished Man of God. He was kind, loving, compassionate, loyal, and a very generous person. He was a family man who loved, protected and provided for his family. He especially loved his father. He would purchase a ticket at the last minute to travel to Georgia on Father s Day so his father would not be alone. David leaves to cherish his memories his wife, his father, his siblings, his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, aunts, brothers and sisters in-law and a host of many more extended family.
